Partly cloudy here after a sunny start. 16.9C. one short but very sharp shower earlier. It was very localised as my daughter just a couple of miles away had a dry morning.

Hammered it down y'day evening so younger HC got drenched. Young Scots who go out without their coats eh...  Warm & sunny again this morning with some of our favourite little fluffy clouds around.

My cheapo NW subsciption lets me get forecasts for various parts of Brazil and a few things strike me - first is anyone running around in that sort of heat & humidity that isn't used to it will be at risk of heatstroke, and secondly, I bet they're glad it's what passes for winter there, not summer!

That front took an eternity to meander through yesterday, borefest of a thing, just solid rain, zero sparks.

Much better day today, a right mixed bag in the skies, very warm in the interludes between the clouds, easy to forget we are into June given the Autumnal conditions that have prevailed over spring.

Yesterday's wavy clouds prior to the soaking..

That's a cracking photo there. You don't have a hi-res version to zip & post as an attachment by any chance? :)

Here ya Go HC, it has been tweaked a little from the original on Instagram to try to recapture what it looked like to naked eye. Took it on phone so not especially great resolution..

It's saturday allover again ;) Some amount of rain moving in but none of it electrified (although maybe more of a chance of embedded rumbles this time who knows)

More Asperatus undulatus from the midlands earlier today - did post this in the Convective thread but it is ticking along at a rate of knots..

Just starting to hammer down on the north coast. Apparently it did this exactly the same time yesterday here and the river shot up in the evening. If it does the same today, the river'll boil over cos the ground is now saturated.

Bloody midges...

Wet here but I think we (so far) have managed to stay on the lucky side in that the torrential stuff is slightly to the west of here. Such a beautiful, warm sunny morning too. Come to think of it, this scenario has been quite common of late. Another day of two halves then.

more boring rain today and still no thunder or sparks.  just had a shower move through and was hoping it was going to keep building and put on a show but it never got there still totally chucked it down though with pretty big drops so at least is was something to watch. cant believe we have been pulling in a decent amount of air from southern Europe and not getting anything out of it with all the rain moving south to north you would think there would be at least some electricity around even if it was short lived showers. lets just get a big daddy high over us now with masses of heat and hope for the mother of all break downs to end it off around end of august because all this waiting for something to happen and ending up with crap boring rain is getting a bit tedious now.

post-1989-0-65022100-1402395132_thumb.jpBeautiful again here this morning at 19c calm. Looks like we are going to get hit in the afternoon as usual, although it doesn't look as if it will be as wet, or for as long as yesterday. I agree Catch, wouldn't complain if those charts verified.

Yet another day of 20'C + weather, just under 21'C with towering cumulus. Excellent growing weather as of late with warm sunshine and the odd burst of heavy rain making conditions generally humid - long may this continue!

I'm glad it isn't just me after all

GFS looks warmer/better than the ECM. Both look reasonably good though, I've seen far worse summer charts.

its been astonishing that we can drag up so much warm and humid air and get absolutely nothing from it electricity wise well I say astonishing but it is Scotland we are in

yeah the set up in the models doesn't look half bad with high pressure looking to be around but from a lets see the weirdest possible out the weather point of view it does have similarities with this

post-18233-0-14776800-1402406541_thumb.p

heights moving towards Greenland with a trough setting up in Scandinavia and possibility of it tapping into or linking with whats left over the arctic and bang snow in june.

don't think with todays climate it could happen don't know if there is enough cold air up there compared to what there was in 1975 but I'm weird and would like to see it just to say snow in summer yes I witnessed that.

anyway less talk about snow we still have another three months till we can think about seeing any falls at the earliest.

I would really like to see something set up like last summer as it was a fairly decent summer compared to a lot we have had and got some really good heat on the go but two summers like that happening in a row is a slim chance at best I think.

the current set up going later into summer might be of interest if we get stuck in a rut of low pressures running lower and stalling out to the south west as it would surely ramp up our chances of seeing some good beefy thunder and lightning with more heat building as the summer goes on.

and on a last note and I know its june and I'm talking about winter already but this recent set up if we have it run on through summer could be a really good thing if we see a decent winter this time round as we can see from the current SST anomalies the north sea is running way warmer than usual due to the warm humid air being pumped up from the south also with the low pressures stalling to the south west theres got to be warmer water being pushed through the channel as well and hopefully we can keep these anomalies high right through into December.

well that's a bit of a hodge podge post lol but I'm still a little snow starved after winter and need a hit lol.

First crack of thunder of the summer to the NE over Forres just now.Has felt really humid all day.Currently 19.5c. Growth is still almost tropical harvest should be early  unless it gets cold and wet.Turnips can be seen up and down the drills just over a week after sowing .perfect conditions for them. Not haymaking weather however.

good to see theres something around today its gives hope. things look to have turned a little more south westerly so hopefully that stuff over Ireland can find its way towards the central belt and produce something of interest into the evening.

Almost dark in the last 20 minutes with a very stormy sky rolling in from the south with walls of rainfall coming down the hills to the south.Currently 17c with very oppressive humidity. Torrential rain on now with flooded surfaces and mini  streams everywhere. Nice overhead crack of thunder just now to round it off.

Nice night here, after a wet morning. Reached 20.1c and was fairly humid. Tomorrow looking decent although nothing on the temps expected down south :(

One crump of thunder from somewhere west of Bettyhill late morning, otherwise a day of contrasts, with some lovely warm sunshine earlier (although dawn was crap, thNKS AGAIN TO THE FRIGGIN cUCKOO FOR woops caps lock chaos sharing the super dupere with me) and now back to midge-infested dross.

Morning. 14.8c and the cloud beginning to clear and the sun making an appearance. Hope we can at least avoid the seemingly now predictable showery afternoons. Had coffee outside most mornings lately, after  drying off the furniture!

If I remember correctly, didn't last summer start coolish and unsettled? Then of course, we landed up with that terrific 2 week heatwave in July! :)

Surprisingly warm start to the day, 17.3c currently with sunshine. Feeling warm. These next 10 days or so (prediction is for high pressure nearby) should help dry out the ground after a very wet few days.

Do the Met Office under do temperatures for your locations? I realise there has been a thread created for this elsewhere. Just the forecast was for 18c so only 0.7 to go and it's not 11 o'clock... Should make 20 again

EDIT: dark clouds have popped up so maybe showers will hit... Pegging the temperature back, we'll see...
