Can hear it now! Still to my immediate north. Currently dry here but don't think it will last.

Seems to be one main storm heading north east over Wolverhampton and towards Cannock with sproadic sferics in the surrounding showers.

Looks like we'll miss out again!! It's gone quite dark but looking at the radar, all the action is to our west...

Well was about to come on saying that it looks like it's dying down...but just as I do there was a flash and a rumble much closer than the others have been!

What do you classify as a sunny day though Conor? In my new (2nd hand Ebay £4.00 ) book 'Regional climates of the British Isles' in the chapter for the Midlands they classify it as being over 6 hours, with 12 hours accounting for just 5% of the days between May and September:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Regional-Climates-British-Isles-Julian/dp/0415139309

Basically the Midlands sees proportionally sunnier weather during the Winter months cf the extended Summer.

Excellent reading BTW :)

Sunny day for me is less than 40% cloudover between 10am-6pm, don't count it if it starts clear then ends up like this by 10am:

Had heavy downpour here for an hour, heaviest rain since August Cheshire gap streamer's, no thunder though, still muggy.

Storm shields (and especially Snow shields) can be such a nuisance sometimes.

Well it's a misty and foggy start here today on what should be another very useable day. Currently 10.1C. My forecast for Somerset today can be found on my website at

Nothing here either, Mapantz and egret.  Cloud cover now complete, but it's been a sunny and warm day for the last day of September.

Hey all. Haven't checked in in a long while, but I saw this yesterday and thought many of you would find it interesting (as long as it hasn't already been posted!)

The met office are saying that this September is set to be possibly the driest on record, see attached image...!

I'm sat here thinking today may have been the last day until next late Spring that it's warm enough to have the patio doors open! Also noticed the lowering sun angle this afternoon when having to adjust washing on the line to keep it in the sun as long as possible due to trees and neighbouring houses. It was a very warm afternoon though.

That image starkly shows where the thundery activity was on the evening/night of Thursday 18th! Aside from that event the only rain this month has come from several weak Cold Fronts, another of which will cross tonight.

Beautiful sunset this evening as cloud moves in from the west.

Certainly was and a stunning almost half moon too.

That little square over Shropshire is from all the excess drizzle from the misty days surely   Is there a map of sunshine totals? curious to see just how bad Shropshire's done compared to Wales

Muggy evening once again, damp and drizzly but 17.3c
