Valid from 2100 on Sunday until 0800 on Monday.

Monday 6th October 2014

YELLOW WARNING of WIND

This warning is in force for selected stretches of the coast around the north, west and southwest of the United Kingdom.

Strong winds, accompanied by heavy rain, will move westwards across the UK on Monday.

Gales or even severe gales are likely around exposed coasts and high ground in the west and north on Monday morning.

The public should be aware of the potential for travel disruption from the strong winds as well as standing water on the roads and reduced visibility from spray and driving rain.

Dark and windy this morning with horizontal drizzle after proper rain in the earlier hours. Perhaps a defined line of heavy rain to come then a clearance by midday.

It's miserable here, absolutely lashing down.

Plenty of 30mph gusts recorded, which isn't too shabby considering the anemometer location.

15.5mm to 09.00GMT here.  Still blowing a hooley, but the heavy rain has passed.  However there seems to be a narrow, intense squall line on its way, not sure if it will hit here or not!

It has stopped raining and it is brightening up slowly.

Vantage Vue has 31.4mm and the manual gauge has 32mm in it.

Lots of flooding on the roads, the quay could flood over the next few days, as the rain water filters in to the Frome, combined with some very big tides coming up.

Well, it was pretty windy this morning and yes damage has come with it... Today High Wind Gust: 39 mph 06:03. Here we suffered damaged to one of our maple trees consisting of 2 big limbs which broke off and also one of our very small trees, a bay tree which is no higher than a meter, snapped in half.

Just over 20mm here, with winds just over 50mph. A fair bit of sun here daytime, but some showers have already started this evening, and they look quite lively according to the radar.

The pattern of dry July into wet start of August, has moves onto dry September wet start to October.

The added issue with tree damage, is that the trees are still in quite full leaf, later in the autumn this ill not be the case,

I get the feeling tonight into tomorrow morning is going to be very active and interesting right up the Bristol Channel and streaming inland from there as well as along the English Channel coastline and inland into the adjoining counties too. A set up we haven't had for a long time with potential for thunderstorms, hailstorms and localised flooding too.

A quieter interlude from late morning tomorrow and overnight into early Wednesday, then I think with the unstable Southerly flow ahead of the LOW lines of downpours will develop rapidly from the South coast from sunrise on Wednesday.

Also, I am looking forward to colourful CBs at sunrise tomorrow.
