Started like you describe then turned more readily to proper snow flakes. Did it for you?

Hi SjV

Yes its turned more to snow now, its white over now. Going on for 1cm atm. That ice underneath is going to be fun in the morning!

Yeah similar amounts here. Looking nice and white here now, and encouragingly it laid easily on the roads :)

the radar is picking up nicely too!

It truly is blizzard conditions tonight, the wind is very strong and gusty. The snow is almost horizontal. Not often we get to see real blizzards :)

Just spoken to my other half and it has just taken him two and a quarter hours to get from Bradford to Keighley. Freezing sleet made the roads crazily slippery and people were abandoning their cars and sliding all over the place trying to get through! I'm happy here in Dijon with my windy drizzle as snow driving really isn't my forté...

Good stuff :). Looks like that bit of altitude is key at the moment. Snow line should start dropping soon though.

Its very hard to see in the dark, but this is currently up here. I really hope the line drops soon for everyone! :)

Strangely temps have increased from a low of 0.4 at about 5pm to 1c. Still a light covering on grass/cars and areas of pavement from earlier.

There is also talk of rain in the north west regionals, due to a mild sector of air.

Apparently temps are forecast to start dropping again the the next hour or so, but I hope we miss any precipitation until it is all snow. Nothing worse than seeing a massive sleet shower pass over you, when it could be snow!

The radar is looking quite good for later. Loads of showers packing in from the north west and a good, unstable airflow meaning any showers should be big and beefy.

I wouldnt be surprised if these showers made it right over to the east coast! The wind is so strong. Taking them right over to Lincolnshire anyway, so thats good. Hope you guys get in on the act :)

A nice strong shower heading right for Lincoln atm!

I've found lying snow in leeds city centre very rare. I've known it sleet in leeds yet have accumulating snow 10 miles away in otley.

Cheers for the responses.

So who thinks I will make back down to Leicestershire tomorrow?? Looking at the showers on the radar I think I will be fine. They are not clumped together enough!!
