Are you sure, I seem to remember it showing the precip fruther south, (N Midlands), whereas in the end we got the dumping ?

Ye it showed snow for 24 hours over west/south yorkshire which we got, when the bbc and look north had snow dying out in the morning.

I know it's wrong to pay too much attention to predicted precipitation charts but would have liked it to remain like the 06z for piece of mind.

wont be that shabby at low levels so long as it sticks,

has anyone looked at the GFS precip charts at around 36hrs... looks interesting early hours of Friday Morning.

We'll i have failed to get excited to this because we get let dwn too much by the snow when it's forecast.

If we fail tonight then this cold spell will just fade away as the only other snow forecast will be right along the coasts not inland. Always north west n Scotland.

Be wary of that though. He's just copied those amounts from the Met Office warning, which specifically states that amounts will vary quite widely.

It's annoyingly still soft hail here even at 215m ASL at the moment!

yes lol.. that one , almost identical to this,

the warm sector of the low is going to go down the west side of the country with us here on the colder side... have a sneaky feeling it will be a marginal affair though.

Maybe HC or CC could make a comment on it :unknw:

That has my interest too mate the GFS has the heavy precipitation coinciding with uppers of -5 and 2m temps of zero, so that really is conductive for snow for all apart from coastal fringes.

We need to see it still there on the gfs and NAE 18z before we get carried away though. As little developing circulations like showed on this chart (east of east anglia) are notoriously difficult to predict there exact track and developement (even at such close range.)

well its an ice rink out there. so dangerous right now. Be carefull if your going out anyone. Got a very thick layer of ice covering everything, the roads and paths are sheer ice! temp currently -0.5. It must be the wind freezing everything solid!

The snow showers are still just polistyrine (spelling?) though :(

we'll have to see what we get. Some say a few cm, i was hoping more 10cm lol. Its just pot luck though with these showers.

Not expecting anything more than a dusting tonight here being a bit too far east. Think I should be better placed at the weekend hopefully!

Started like you describe then turned more readily to proper snow flakes. Did it for you?

Worrying aspect is the rapidly rising dewpoint temps above freezing so hopefully a glitch. Anyway not going to game going to watch in a pub. Hopefully my friend who's got a dodgy heart will stay in. Told her to do so if she doesn't that will give me a problem.
