Rain! I'm off back to Queensbury! Any good pubs there?

Bazookabob, I've only just move up here so I've not tested the locals! main roads are bad up here now, I've just come back over soil hill at 390m asl with winter tyres and a 4x4 and its getting a bit nasty!

Serious snow here. Big flakes and heavy. This is the stuff that will be hitting West Yorkshire soon, so enjoy as it looks to be lasting a long while!

Cowdog where exactly are you?

Been up into the Pennines by rishworth today and its another world up there. Must be at least 10cm of snow up there compared to the slushy mess down here. Still better than what we got on boxing day though.

Radar shows PPN heading for Leeds - whether it reaches here intact is another matter .We'll see.

A nice line of showers developing in the irish sea near liverpool, those around sheffield might do well from this, if it falls as snow....

Hope you westies are enjoying this evenings snow. Whilst this map has no concern of the most of you Im just having a play around with forecasting snow for my area for abit of fun, and will be interesting to see how I fair. This is for tomorrow evening and overnight.

post-6447-0-03287500-1421519140_thumb.jp

The BLACK area is where I expect the most likely chance of snowfall is for tomorrow and overnight into Monday.

The RED area is where I expect to be the most snowfall, between 5-10cm is possible especially over 200m.

The BLUE areas covers the western part of the North York Moors and the higher parts (150m +) of the Wolds. This is where precip may not be as frequent as the red area however any precip that does fall will be 100% snow and will accumilate easily. 2-5cm is possible in these areas.

The area outside the coloured circles but within the black area is generally lower ground in the region or areas further south which may only see the remains of showers. Accumilations are possible of up to 2cm if there are any heavier showers however some areas may miss out all together.

Probs way off but WHAT THE HECK  :unknw:

Overall there's not much said so far on the first front that is coming on Tuesday. The focus seems to be more on the front that will come to us on Wednesday.

coming down thick and fast, and settling on all surfaces. this is at 90m asl so should bode well for those higher up.

just had a decent-ish shower with large wet flakes.

The radar shows sleet here though, so it's looking a bit marginal up here atm.

I assume its pointless looking at the rain/sleet/snow radars then as its shown sleet constantly all over leeds and still does, as it has where i am, however all these reports of heavy snow in morley area guess the radars are pointless and wrong, its right for me though in Allerton, just too low down sadly :-(

Have given up on Queensbury, reason being the conditions coming off the M606 right near the Centre of Bradford. Look at the size of these flakes. Main city roads were already white over and treacherous so have pulled into a retail park lol...

Allerton Bywater is pretty low down - probably the lowest area in West Yorks. Pretty sure parts of it near the lakes are below sea level - prone to flooding.
