They might skirt to the W of Durham :(

Then there is a huge gap.. are we expecting those more organised showers off Scotland to reach us? Or more to pep up?

Radar looking good for those of a Geordie persuasion.

METO have yellow warning for most coastal areas and inland for the north east overnight and radar shows snow events even down to coastal areas so fingers xd.

moderate snow in cramligton settling on all surfaces, yes!

Here's hoping to get a decent cover on top of the ice rink left over from today's wet snow which has made the paths lethal.

At least the ground is solid cold to allow better settling throughout the region.

Hopefully convection from the north sea should hopefully keep them coming for a while and be a nice surprise in the morning and provide a good starting point for the rest of the week or 2.

Must be from that decent sized blob that is in Northumberland at the moment, at last some rewards for patience.

Goodness, it looks like my location could go through that gap, wish it would close up, I'll see whether this shower will hit or not and then hit the hay for the night although no doubt I will still be radar watching.

Looks like the showers coming into Tyne and Wear now more from the NNE rather than due North, looking good at the moment

Think I'm a touch too far inland though radar shows it passing over but can't see much clouds.

Hopefully will be a surprise in morning but need some sleep after this morning's treasure hunt. Still 3 separate days of laying snow in under a week is not bad.

It's my first winter back in uk after living under the centre of the Azores high for 2 boringly hot years so nice to have snow again :)

Your location is now looking better than mine for now, nice big blob looks like it's about to hit your area.

I'm waiting for the lighter showers to hit here then going to bed, looks like a long gap after and my alarm is set for 05:35 for work :(

Good luck everyone!

Last lookout before bed and hey presto, its snowing again but quite fine atm but at least can sleep seeing some flakes, for the 4th day now in a week, so very impressed.

Enjoy fellow Northerners :)

Yet again it's Boro and around there that are getting it. Naff all for Durham-Newcastle. No proper snow for my kids this year it looks... terribly frustrating when it's bucketing down 30 miles away :(

Well there has been plenty of showers here over night.  Perhaps enough for a few inches.  However is been a sleet mix leaving a light slushy covering.  Temp now is 0.4c.   This event has been painfully close.  We have paid the price for having mild autumn and winter so far leaving high SSTs which have modified the cold air just enough.  We need to source some colder air.......

Around 2 this morning we had a thin (3-5mm) but 100% covering of snow, shame the surface wind direction changed and started coming off the sea from a NNE direction pushing dew points well over 0℃ and sleet/rain was the end result.. Oh well looked pretty at 2:30am..
