This is a cold spell? Shove it where the sun dont shine.

Dry weather badly needed now.

dry weather will be with us by the weekend but very cold too

and low and behold - just like we all know will happen the atlantic front is slower to come into the uk because of all that cold air and high pressure

gfs-2-132.png?18

still looking good for wales though at the moment - but it might not even make it into ireland at this rate

Well after looking at the Beebs forecast @9-55pm on News 24 all looks a bit doom and gloom after this week is over ' However b4 that we have a system coming from the West and as it makes inland  against the cold air we could be in for a great snow event ' long as the cold do not drift East and stays more west  ' Also if the Front stalls then we can get some great snow coverage here in Wales , also do not 4get its only the beginning of January ' plenty more trumps to come .

Anyway Pressure here is 1011 and Temp is 2.8c Dropped from 6.c .Also Gritters are out here ' Must be getting cold with Ice and maybe some wintry showers .

Indeed UKMO @120 ( if you have been around that long ) is the Jan 1982 redux....

I'm going hill walking to the Llangollen area tomorrow, to Castell Dinas Bran and around the Eglwyseg Rocks/World's End.. I imagine there is a significant chance of at least a few cm's on the top of these hills, as Dinas Bran is 320m asl, and Eglwys Rocks can rise to 500m asl on the moors above. Should provide some great Photo opportunities anyway.

Not at the moment.  Although by tomorrow maybe sparkling icing.  Enjoy the walk.

I see that the Met Office has issued a yellow rain warning for the South East of England, warning that rain could lead to surface water flooding.

Given that North Wales experienced several hours of heavy (sometimes very heavy) rain yesterday which resulted in many roads being flooded, the obvious question is, where was the warning? I don't mean to be overly critical of the Met Office but where is the consistency here?

3 million = wales/ 8 million sheep

57 million = england

nothing much to report so far today - light rain right now - had a little hail earlier - that's all

Yes...silly me....If you don't live near London you don't matter. That's how it feels sometimes...no getting away from it.

Been meaning to dig out some family photos of this event for a while now. I wasn't quite 4 when it happened but have great memories. Absolutely amazing.

I'll have to ask the folks to dust off their photo albums

We have had a mixture this morning - rain showers, polystyrene balls I think called soft hail a little sleet but nothing I would call as snow yet.

Temp approx 4c and DP 1C Wind SW light to moderate.

Still waiting in Ffestiniog for some sign of snow, even the snow that fell on the hills around over the weekend and Monday washed away yesterday only the very tops with anything left.
