Currently on a knife edge, but this would be a snow party for South Wales if it were to verify with the 0C iso generally acting as the barrier between snow and rain. Cardiff would see snow while Weston saw rain, that's how neatly the isotherm slices through the Bristol Channel.

Snowmaker or rainmaker will be down to nowcasting and radar watching next week and beyond

Oh, and another anecdote (which I've mentioned several times in the past on here, so I apologise if anyone is sick of hearing it);

Tredegar holds the UK record for deepest level snow ever recorded in an "urban" area - 165cm in February 1963.

Funnily enough, I don't get sick of hearing it!

Had letters home from the kds school today staying what the procedure is in extreme weather circumstances.......not saying that they don't do it as standard but surely they would issue it at the start of winter not mid way through and yes Andy music I have seen the council stocking up the grit bins today.....hopefully interesting times ahead!:cold::drunk-emoji:

One day I'll be at a dinner party and somebody from, oh I dunno, Basildon or some place, will be wittering on about the 15 cm of snow they saw in whichever year, giving me the opportunity to interject with "stuff your 15 cm, Essex. We had 165 cm round these parts a few years back".

The table falls silent and mouths drop...

Now that's oneupmanship we can all get behind.

Mixed PPN really into mid and north wales its snow but there is a distinct boundary of warmer air to the south, hopefully this will disappear on further runs its just getting confused with the low pushing in from the west, screams warm sector

Can you link me to those charts, Marcus? Not sure which ones you mean.

Either way, I'm not too worried about things at the moment.

I cannot see any milder air around come Tuesday with -2 to -5 uppers temperature cold enough to produce the white stuff,then with -10uppers soon following,lets see closer to Tuesday how much of the white stuff we can get.Not a stable airflow that"s for sure!Very simular to December 2010 with A large Greeland high to the west ,LP in the middle and Huge HP to the east.could be  another 5 or so years before we this set up again ENJOY lol!:yahoo:

Wrists being slit in the Model thread this morning. Big downgrades overnight and all teddies getting thrown out of their cots.

More entertaining than the model watching itself.

Certainly going to be colder next week from about Tuesday. How long for and what type of precip still up for grabs by the looks of it although nothing guaranteed for sure.

As long as the blocking signals remain I think we might get a couple more bites of the cherry further down the line. Later this month and beginning of Feb I'm taking a punt at
