Morning all,

Just had a rain/sleet shower here in Keyworth, that was the first precipitation I have seen today, I was in Nottingham City Centre until 11am where it was perfectly dry all morning.

Cheers

FC

Had a heavy shower for last 15 minutes which has covered everywhere. Started by going dark, then a heavy shower of graupel (sp) and really heavy snow. Died down now to fine flakes.

West Midlands is paying for having the boxing day event, not only was it marginal (but the right side) but it was at Christmas time when the entire of the country would have wanted something festive! There may be a better chance coming along this winter, but who knows. If it's coming from the NW it needs to be a band - not showers and be dry all day, preferably at night too.

My 'Boxing Day Event' consisted of an hour of snowy rain. Don't think I owe the weather gods much payback for that!

Bah, Humbug.

Still day one of current cold period plenty of snow opportunities and a few of them will will unexpected. For those bemoaning their luck or indeed the more knowledgeable adhering to charts and forecasts ... expect the unexpected woooohooo

When asking an old experienced climber many many years ago of the following days weather prospects was cut down by his pithy reply of "look up" !! I must admit the sky currently just doesn't look right for snow. I'll get me coat.

Blimey! Giant snowflakes, in the past 20 minutes or so we've had over an inch fall. Even the main roads are covered

Think I'll move to one of the 'districts' soon. Peak district sounds about right!

I'll go 50/50 with you, mate. Buxton is a nice area :)

Sounds a plan mate. Make sure we are 300m asl+.. not too far into the wildneress, a couple of miles from a biggish town or close enough to main roads to get into Derby for work, night life, a couple of local offy's for beer, bread and milk. Good signal for Sky! You can go to work, I'll be the stay at home snowmom. (Dad).

Happy?  :yahoo:

So envious of you guys just a few miles from me but at 200m-plus asl! Down here at sub-100m it's rain pure and simple, except for a few wet flakes in the heaviest bursts. Sadly I don't have time today to take a pleasure trip up into the hills anywhere. Ah well, didn't expect anything else so I'm not getting worked up about it.
