Woke to a few cm's lying, a few heavy snow showers since then a little break. Now its really coming down again. MetO reckons 5 hours of heavy snow today with light snow in between. We're at 1.9 degrees, DP -0.5 and falling.

The showers seem to be losing their ooomph by the time they reach more central areas such as here.

However, activity certainly seems to be pepping up over Wales and the Irish Sea :)

Crazy, its snowing here! Elevation difference is about 40m.

This morning I left my house at the top of Brookside in Telford and the pavements were well on their way to being totally covered in snow. By the time i got to the bus stop 50ft lower there was nothing!

Yes looks like a more organised band may be heading into wales, what it looks like by the time it reaches the Midlands though is another matter. Temps may be wrong side of marginal by then also.

Looking at the 06z showers will start to push further across the midlands by midday and continue to do so throughout the day. Around midnight tonight a more organised area of snow looks like pushing across the midlands moving from roughly north wales/cheshire area clearing south east. Areas furthest south and west most at risk of seeing sleet rather than snow. Wether any of us see accumulating snow will probably come down to getting lucky and landing in some of the heaviest snow

That's annoying again...10 miles down the road from you and its blue skies and no snow. Not even had any rain lol.

My Peak District drive is off the menu then  :wallbash:

Good fun and games for you and the others already there though, have fun.

A little shred of hope for us further south and missing all the fun so far. If you run the radar sequence over the last 2 hours you can see that although the showers are running pretty much W to E along a line across northern parts of the region, the line of showers is gradually moving south.

The bbc and met seem to suggest most ppn tonight and tomorrow will be sleet or

rain.

I cant see many of us getting snow tonight and tomorrow unless things

change.

Actually we have just had a snow shower, so rain earlier, then snow.

We really need frontal snow in this part of the country, showers are too hit and miss.

For me temps are just a degree or two too high for areas away from high ground like the Peak District.

If it was currently around or just above freezing I'd have high hopes we'd see a few cms today and tonight, but it's not. It's currently around 2c and will probably get up to 3c lunchtime. Too warm for settling snow, puddles and a bit of slush at night is I fear all the majority of us will see.

Very frustrating but I guess it's the price we pay for living in the comparatively warmer, southern part of Britain.

Had a light to moderate shower around 7.30am this morning but nothing since, clear skies. Clouding up a little, looking at radar it is going to be very hit or miss but hoping we are going to see something.
