Ooooh. Did anyone comment on its likely track?

Someone in there posted a couple pics from some model that had picked it up that expects it go go through irish sea pretty much directly south. Although it looks a bit further east in reality. just a case of keeping an eye on the radar over next few hours

Well, the heavy shower at around midday was good fun, though obviously nothing settled here at 90m asl. Now sunny -- there's a really dark cloud just to the north, but a small one. A tiny blob on the radar seems to match it. Going to miss here, but maybe Highley/Kinver way might see a short sharp shower of shleet. ;)

Anyone got an update for later in Cannock. Is it just squally showers or is a more organised band going to dump her load

More organised band, likely to be of rain, sleet and snow - so minimal accumulations expected before it drips away. Better to expect rain and sleet, unlikely to be of note here. It's moving in with marginal and warmer upper temps. Metoffice fancy rain and covered their backs a little. 200m+ will see a covering.

GFS 12z for 00 to 03am Friday looks really juicy for Derby/Notts maybe even Leicester if it's a little further south. Would love to see this appear on the radar later...

Yup. NMM has it too albeit slightly further south. Basically the track in reality could be 50 maybe even up to 100 miles north or south of this. Won't know til it arrives. I think i'll stay up to watch the radar on this one :p

Oddly EURO4 is having none of that stream for 3am friday... Total disagreement with NMM and GFS on one side and EURO4 on the other.

As things stand, this spell is not nearly as good (for this part of Worcestershire) as even the one a fortnight ago. No coverings at all as against three last time, even if those only lasted a few hours each. And far more rain and sleet this time. It's not even as cold for the most part. Hopefully things will pick up a bit sometime in the next week with some snow that isn't confined to 200m+ altitudes!

And no, I'm not being unrealistic and expecting a 2010-type event. Even in the "m----n winter" days of the mid-2000s, I never once went an entire winter without at least one covering of 1cm+. Not once. The last time that happened here was March 2013... two winters in a row without seeing a cm on the ground at any point would certainly be unprecedented in my experience, but it's getting more likely.

Actually, I'm a lot calmer than this post suggests. I know we have several more opportunities, and that things aren't going to go back to Atlantic-driven zonal for some days yet. There's just some reverse psychology going on here. ;)

Might get something from the polar low if it survives long enough and tracks this way. You never know ...

Next heavy shower is here. Settling readily. The wind seems to be in the sweet spot now, so even though there are fewer showers, they're all pointing at us!

Very angering at 80m - we have rain with every shower, despite 95% of it being snow so it never sets and all turns to puddles. Can see the same later to be honest.

What would a Polar Low deliver?

(Trying to snow again here...)

A bucket load to higher elevations but likely to be sleet through the Midlands.  We can but hope though.
