Very angering at 80m - we have rain with every shower, despite 95% of it being snow so it never sets and all turns to puddles. Can see the same later to be honest.

Strange that. The last two showers I have had have been pure snow.

Depends on uppers but if it makes it here potentially lots of snow and windy

But didn't Tony H state it wasn't a polar low? Or am I getting him confused with somebody else?

Met Office regional text forecasts updated: some showers early and late in the night, but mostly clear otherwise. Snow becoming "confined to the hills" in the W (as if it wasn't already!) Looks like east is best in terms of coldness for the early hours as well, with "sleet/snow" rather than the west's "rain/sleet/snow".

Just had an almost blizzard like shower here. It was starting to settle by the end of it on some surfaces. Didn't last long enough otherwise. The winds were strong and very cold, made a little video just uploading now :)

I wasn't expecting a low of any sorts a day or so ago.... If it wants to deliver snow by all mean carry on :D

Feels cold out there now though :cold:

Currently 1.2c DP's -0.4c

What would a Polar Low deliver?

(Trying to snow again here...)

A pint of milk and a loaf of bread for me knowing my luck  Edited by andy_leics22

W COUNTRY We will be closely watching the polar low development tonight as it *might* yield problematic lying snow in some areas esp to N-E

Heavy snow showers earlier whilst in windowless work unfortunately, slight dusting to although mostly melted now.

Still hoping for something Sat Night/Sunday, winds are ideal but will Cheshire Gap deliver I wonder? GFS says no.

GFS 12z for 00 to 03am Friday looks really juicy for Derby/Notts maybe even Leicester if it's a little further south. Would love to see this appear on the radar later...

MetO not forecasting any snow for my area overnight yet this would go right over me. Is it expected to move through as fast as the other snow has?

We've had a few flurries since the dumping at lunchtime. Main roads now clear, side roads and pavements still tricky.

Was just thinking how nice it is to be 4.30pm and still light outside! Gorgeous blue sky here at the moment.

Didn't we get a polar low 28 Jan 2004? The most amazing blizzard I ever saw

I think that was a very active cold front from what i remember rather than a polar low, Very heavy precip with temps going from around 5/6c to below freezing in very short space of time

The bloody North and East will get this polar low.

Areas that have been pounded will get all the fun again.

How will the East get it? :unknw:

Im confused, what does he mean by NE ? Surely the North West would be impacted by this rather than the North East ? Or does he mean NE areas of west country..

Exciting thing to watch that is for sure.

Not on its current track they wont, it might not make it at all but if ian f is warning the west country of snow the midilands has definately got a chance just keep an eye on the radar.

Not currently being forecast by the Met office for us, Is this something that has caught them out & is a developing situation ?

Just got in from work. Logged on to report about the heavy snow today and how we're punching above our weight in this kind of set up etc etc etc.

...and find you're all talking about a polar low?

Please do tell!

Also looks like the whole midlands could get snow especially with good asl
