Still no PPN forecast on BBC or MetO for my area overnight. NetW are saying heavy snow between 12-3am. When will we have a better idea for sure??

Currently at 1 degree, DP -0.6 and snowing moderately after a heavy burst.

From a coldies point of view, it's great the cold weather is with us. However, the shower activity can be very frustrating. Some areas have done very well with snow, but many areas are still green. Here in Hinstock snow has fallen from the sky but never settled, this I believe has been a similar picture for many areas in the Midlands. What we need is a nationwide snow event for everyone to enjoy. Let's hope February brings such a thing and the cold can be trapped in for us coldies. :-)

It's technically in Derbyshire, so sort of the Midlands, but I agree more north west England really.

elevation the key, when no beast from the east, I have had brief coverings, but too warm to settle properly

After studying the track of the heavy ppn (Polar low ish) in the Irish sea I am going to stick my neck out and say a direct hit for Birmingham and maybe just maybe down here in South Warwckshire....the last frame update on the radar "seems" to be tracking slightly more sse than se.......I am almost certainly wrong though  :pardon:

1mm of rain = 1cm of snow. I think.

1mm = 1cm (approx)

I am afraid that it looks like the "polar low" is tracking closer to what the Met Office has predicted to my eyes. I do hope I am wrong, I want an NMM track but I am not seeing that unfortunately.

Another heavy snow shower, re-covered the tracks in the road from previous shower. I tried taking pictures of the snow with my camera, but apparently the dim light coming out of my window is not enough even for a £1500 full frame DSLR. ISO was cranked up to 16,000 for a few shots, even at F1.8 :p
