1mm of rain = 1cm of snow. I think.

1mm = 1cm (approx)

I am afraid that it looks like the "polar low" is tracking closer to what the Met Office has predicted to my eyes. I do hope I am wrong, I want an NMM track but I am not seeing that unfortunately.

Thanks both, I thought so  :)

After studying the track of the heavy ppn (Polar low ish) in the Irish sea I am going to stick my neck out and say a direct hit for Birmingham and maybe just maybe down here in South Warwckshire....the last frame update on the radar "seems" to be tracking slightly more sse than se.......I am almost certainly wrong though  :pardon:

I do hope so. Wales has enough snow!!!!

Could be interesting if we have no radar over night...tracking the event simply through people's observations!

I've got to collect a child from a thing at 11:30. I do hope the polar low/Cheshire streamers/other associated snow features can hold off Birmingham until after midnight.

NetWeather radar is working fine, atleast the Extra members one.

The Raintoday one will probably come back up later in the night, it's more than likely down due to high load. Load will ease as people go to bed.

Here in leicester oadby we've just been battered with snow shower after snow shower! ! Good covering now!! Temp is 0 and dew point -2!!

I told you i'd had a conversation with the snow god's on Tuesday up in Leicester :D This good fortune is a result of those talks.

The conversation was quite heated at times but we struck an agreement in the end :)

Showers do seem less numerous now compared to earlier. So unless you're lucky enough to be under one of those streams...all eyes on later in the night now. We certainly have got ourselves into a dry gap here now.

Well what a day, left home at 7.00 this morning to head up to Barnsley for work and got caught in a huge snow shower just south of Sheffield must have dropped a good 3" inside an hour or so really impressive heavy snow. Then to top it off I get home to northants and it's snowing heavily with a good couple of inches lying. Then get on the forum for a catch up and I read we could be in for a direct hit from a polar low over night!! If Carlesberg did snow.... All this happening on the back of people saying there was no chance of cold or snow till at least the end of February a couple of weeks back and we would be locked in zonal all through January and most of February!

LOL

Trust me the only thing the cheshire gap is producing is

Rain/sleet at the moment just so marginal at the moment

With the DP around 0c
