Little wintry showers passing through today dropping a variety of precipitation.

As far as general cold spells go, this is quite a poor one. However, it is impressive for one that contains north westerly winds. I do think we're squeezing the very best we can out of the pattern this week. So I'm happy as long as something better comes along later in the winter.

There was no NW-ly yesterday winds were from the W/SW.

From now on we`ll see a NW-ly as they say you`d ain`t see nothing yet.

Theres no greenie high with this either, the charts have not been impressive to look at at all.

Took me nearly 2 and half hours to drive into work, dropping my son off on the way. 15 miles, including the school drop in a village on my way. Left at 7.40, arrived work 10.10. There was an inch of snow though once upto the outskirts of town at 100m more like two inches. I just got back from Norway at midnight. Pathetic what happens to the roads and drivers.

Same problems here on the roads this morning. People were driving so slow that they were not getting the momentum to get up the various hills and banks and so clogged the roads. On the opposite scale lorries jacknifed everywhere and some were speeding and span off the road.

Oh and turn off anti skid functions as I discovered in the Citroen DS3...it helps stop wheel spinning which has been an issue with such a powerful car that is Diesel. My Citroen C2 is always a beast in the snow though.

Although there is a lot of high ground around the borders. It's when it gets to the cities of the northwest we will see it's true colours. Sadly, as already mentioned, think it will just be a wintry mix at best here...just as the showers through today have been.

Yh sleet and snow mix looks likely but could be close to all snow uppers are very marginal
