Winter is probably now over.

that could have been the last snow flakes I saw as I come up to the M25 / M20 exit.

If something happens in the outputs I will pop back- but the chances are fading.

Graupel showers at Shepherdswell 125m asl NW of Dover. A mighty 1-2 cms of snow here now dusted with graupel (soft hail) which can fall from the shallow cumulus formed as -10 uppers move over the +9c Straits of Dover.

By the way, Horley (where I actually live) is one mile (max) away as the crow flies:

Go figure.

Come steve that's unlike you to give up on 6thfeb

It's a fair comment. The Azores HP is going to kill at least another 10-14 days of Feb unless something changes. It looks dry and cloudy for the forseeable.

Yes we can get cold/snow into March as we did a couple of years back. But that is super rare.

The fat lady is certainly clearing her throat...

There were some big showers over the estuary as i came home so it seems that one of those has hit us! Still a very dissapointong cold spell and winter in general with regards to snowfall and like many others i now long for the warmth of spring!!

The latest radar does actually show some ppn building in the Thames Estuary, plus the satellite does show the possibility of some charging from the North Sea... http://www.yr.no/satellitt/europa_animasjon.html

Could be something to look out for, the next few radar runs will be telling:

The latest radar does actually show some ppn building in the Thames Estuary:

Pressure is rather high fingers crossed it develops further -10C 850s help counterbalance it out, it is rare to see non convective E/NE with -10c 850s in the mix, little disheartened following how good it was looking 5 days ago. But it is what it is. This winter has been a marked improvement but it was poor. It is not quite over yet. :p

Can confirm we have snow falling at the mouth of the Thames. Just a teeze or are we on to something.
