Lol, I here there's a threat of cold and icy weather ,charts are tasty!!!!! :)

They'd be tasty as early February charts. As early March charts, no.. just no.

Good post in the MOD by Damian, this is very true!

Early March can be as severe as anything Dec, Jan and Feb can produce in terms of wintry cold weather, especially thanks to the fact the arctic is colder now than at any stage of the year.

Just watched BBC weather for the week ahead and its says 60% chance for High Pressure to centre over Scotland to bring winds from the north-east, bringing colder weather.  40% chance for High to stick to the south of UK, bringing further mild weather.

Well after last nights Easterly show, this morning GFS reverts back to pleasant spring like conditions.

A famous GFS wobble,or has it picked up a new signal.

Closer time frame the GFS brings a cold few days Mon-Wed for our region with plenty of Blustery

wintry showers.

Over to the ECM

I am going to refrain from getting excited at the "POTENTIAL" cold spell moving in with the prospect of snow as we have had great wintry charts this winter from the mid-term outlook only to be largely let down nearer the time. In general a Winter of real frustration, Scotland and Northern Ireland being the exception. IF the models start to agree on a decent cold/snowy spell from 120 in, then the charts have my full attention. At the min a lot could still change and we end up with nowt and just fall into Spring without there hardly being a Winter just gone. Let's hope we get a cold snowy March though!
