nice , are you going to see your family ?..

Yes, it is a well overdue visit.

May in a great month for afternoon thunderstorms in Greece and still not too hot so ideal for a visit.

It's a beautiful Island , and nea kameni is well worth a visit ..

Nea kameni (new burnt land) is slowly growing. This documentary explains the geological history of the ever changing island. It is in Greek unfortunately but it has some subtitles in English.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ag18yf9u7e4&feature=youtu.be

I've had the curtains closed all evening so I haven't realised, up until now just how windy it is. March has definately come in like a lion this year...

First time I've looked at the weather forecast for a couple of days and surprised to see the chance of snow this afternoon and over the next few days.

Problem is though that the selfish side of me wants it to stay away today.

The band of rain in western Ireland looks quite intense. It should be here by 3pm with some snow on hills and maybe wet snow in the most intense spells further down.

No weather warning for any snow, does that mean the next few days are gunna be a non event?

I think there are no warning because any settling snow will melt quickly as the sun warms the surfaces. We need deeper cold in March for sustained snow cover. Even in January, snow struggled to settle for more than a few hours here so you get the idea.

If they are going to issue warnings it will likely be at lunchtime although it looks like the default "snow over high ground" seen throughout this winter will probably be the case again this time around so any disruption will be for the minority with populated areas seeing sleet or light snow at best and with little settling.

The precipitation is there but sufficient cold air isn't really on the cards so for the vast majority of us, it's probably just a cold, wet, miserable few days coming up.

I wouldn't call the next few days miserable as for the most part it will be sunny with wintry/snow showers so not grey and dreary.

The trough has now formed a perfect comma feature over Ireland! The precipitation is likely to be rather heavy! I wonder whether to take a drive to the hills and watch the band come from the west.
