Some nice convective bands spiraling around a secondary low pushing in across the NW this afternoon:

I can see shafts of convective rain falling here, not much (if any) however is making it to the ground just yet. Ties up with what's showing on NWRadar over Cheshire currently.

This evening has been fascinating. Has a very summery look to the sky at the moment, with the storms not so far away. A few sferics south of here, a while ago, but nothing direct.

Some showers and perhaps an isolated storm or two for northern and eastern England tomorrow, perhaps EIRE/N Ireland in the morning too, not really warranting much of a detailed forecast:

I am currently keeping an eye on Sunday for some potential. Current Fax chart suggests a trough moving through.

A little instability is forcast.

post-2809-0-77032400-1430482192_thumb.pn

Too early at the moment to put much in the way of detail and it can all change. The problems are its a post occluded front trough rather than a warm sector trough , so the temperature is likely to be limited. Lapse rates are not that impressive either with skewt's suggesting potential weakening caps at 550hpa and 800hpa heights.

Still winds look light which could mean some under estimation of surface temperatures and there appears to be a modicum of low level wind speed sheer.

Not your classic thunderstorm conditions, but just enough to keep an eye on how things develop in the charts especially if the jetstreak to the south shifts a little or is delayed a little.

Monday night into Tuesday morning has been catching my eye over the last 24 hours now.

Looking like we could import some intense rain up from France as it stands. Now this looks to me, particularly on the Eastern side of it like it could have some thundery elements to it, with the most favoured areas being the SE/EA.

If we continue to see westward shift on this shallow low feature progged to deliver this possible event, then we could well see our first show of night fireworks Monday night into Tuesday.

One to keep an eye on.
