So BBC what happened to all those intense blobs across the south with lightning symbols? THAT'S RIGHT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

Go back to forecasting cloudy days, you're good at that

Posting the same thing in two threads doesn't make it any more true or valid.

Besides, the forecast wasn't that out. Isolated thunderstorms followed by a broader area of heavy rain with a few rumbles thrown in.

Just imagine if we got this here in the UK:

If we had storms all the time in the UK, as good as it would be, I would miss their hit & miss  nature.

Another very heavy cell just popped up west of Reading

Whereabouts is the location anyone? I havn't got radar extra (though I might soon, thinking about it).

Mesmerising! If you ever want to explain rotation in a supercell to your average person, that would be a perfect way to illustrate it.

One heading for Didcot the other is over Twyford

The large cell that produced much lightning East of Winchester .. well on it's NE Flank.. developing rapid torrential showers.

Tonight sort of reminds me of the plume in July last year - watching cells pop up around Birmingham and gradually inch their way northwards, making me increasingly hopeful that something was going to hit Manchester. I never knew that this is the footage that I would end up recording by the end of the night:

I remember that day because of that storm the developed near Swindon  and clobbered me about 4pm and this should now be my 400th post

Ooh, those? They don't look very torrential to me (but then I didnt think 120 mm/hr was heavy)!

Yeah I noticed that, I see when looking at the latest wind gust charts were stuck right on the line just after the charge of direction according to the Netweather radar, i think that's keeping us protected lol,

Just been out to see Tom (ex-singer of Inspiral Carpets), a bit of drizzle on the way home and dark cloud-bases about 8pm. Heavy rain is due this way in the next hour, humidity is relatively high here still since this afternoon.

Heavy rain here........and  with the best chances for Birmingham still to come.....Just as we get into the `greatest potential storm threat period'

Good forecast I`d say
