Dark clouds approaching now that I look to my south, gonna get guinea pig in, i'm not sure if its going to be that thundery where I am but we'll see. I gotta work tomorrow and don't feel that well so will probably pass on chasing this time.

That's what I thought guys, but there's nothing down here! :sorry:

cells appearing rapidly in the channel south of kent :) Maybe something is still to come?

One cell actually went from nothing to 70mm/ph rates in a 5 minute update?!

Well seems like its going to be a let down over night, its hard to believe that nothing will happen as it feels like one of those very close thundery nights. Its warm outside its very muggy and still. The amount of let downs in this country is huge compared to what actually happens, such a shame.

Edit: one can only hope im woke up in the middle of the night.

I don't think one or two day plumes are enough in the UK. We need a proper entrenched warm/hot spell for storms to initiate, at least in this setup.

Very true that, its not like we've just come out of a heat wave or anything guess were all just yarning for a decent storm.

That's a lively cell (to the North-west of Brighton) that's only shown up in the last hour that's starting to spark. :)

Very eerie sight here, seems to be some mist coming in from the South and a cool southerly breeze. Not feeling very muggy now.

The end?

The final insult as the cold front comes through as a dryish affair, even that was suposed to produce thundery rain.

Had more excitement from this 'mini plume', no impressively high temperatures before or after here.

First distant rumble here! Such little activity shouldn't produce so much excitement in me but there you go.

Chin up people the night is still young and there is plenty of energy up there! Not calling it a bust until the sun rises tomorrow morning.

Looks to be heading my way. Keeping a beady eye out for lightning.

It's very warm and sticky here after a top temp of 25c. Shame the heat is going to move east with rain tomorrow.

I heard on Facebook of thunder in Doncaster which is is quite folate North.

Can't believe there's been so little action...that said have been off the boil the past few days as I'm not in the country.

Gorgeous cell that down near the S Coast - here's hoping it'll go nuts for many people this evening :D

The best plumes the past few years have certainly been in July and through the 90s generally in August, so here's hoping for a good year.

Signing out for the night - good luck all!

Thought you guys might be interested in these few snappers i got from last night, one from St catherines lighthouse and the other from Freshwater bay...
