Very eerie sight here, seems to be some mist coming in from the South and a cool southerly breeze. Not feeling very muggy now.

The end?

It's getting going out East. Hopefully you folks in E.Anglia might catch some.

Nothing electrical about any of that though, the last UK strikes were West London and SE Essex, but that was a good hour ago now.

It is the mother of all coincidences but every single time Ms Kirkwood says humdingers, little or nothing happens. The campaign to stop her uttering this word starts today.

This ones been hooking for quite a while now its making landfall. Not lots of precip though but kind of looks like a classic supercell although the heavier precip is located the other end lol

I don't want to give up, still something else must form, these showers wouldn't form out of nowhere for no reason? Am I being stupid?

Just take those heavy showers in Portsmouth formed in what 15 mins, could thunder at any moment? :(

"The vagaries of convective forecasting continue! Much mid-level cloud has accompanied this meaning very limited surface heating - a few thunderstorms have developed over NE France and will move into E Kent. Otherwise, the risk seems fairly low for most other places."

In other words, the forecast has changed dramatically, and the risk of thunderstorms is only apparent in Kent - elsewhere low.

Two sferics west of Brighton on a developing cell.

3 more almost instantaneous strikes from that cell, as well as strikes over east anglia.....looking at the orientation of the showers, I think they're firing along a cold front

well the bbc earlier had flashing lightning graphics for this afternoon and evening all over the south west , wales, midlands, east midlands, north midlands,

and so,  nothing, absolutely nothing happened , apart from far south east,  which incidentally, they showed none for there,   what a joke,    , truth is, a human being in an office can put as many lightning symbols on a chart as they want, mother nature looks down and laughs , and does as she decides
