Sferics now North of Coventry and another development over Leicester, i guess these are just the starters with the main course to come later this afternoon! Fingers crossed

The one in Leicester appeared out of nothing in a very short timescale..

Radar got it wrong, showed a moderate shower coming through here, when all that happened was a few splodges. Sun's back out now and the skies are dark to the north. We are the breeding ground again today...when will the west breed for us here. I can see quite a widespread array of storms from Bournemouth north to about Manchester and then directly north anywhere from there today. Sadly Staffs needed to be 100 miles further north. Same old, same old.

You know same with Bristol really, storms over Exeter earlier storms over Swindon and this morning over Salisbury brilliant! Well we can only hope!

The Derby area is the breeding ground for storms!

Milky skies now in Leeds with hazy sunshine.  Surprisingly windy.  Difficult to see if any cloud formations are building due to the haze.

Good lines of AcCas to the north of Donny now, although the air has cleared. Was very hazy this morning and you could not see ten miles. You can 20 now no bother but the wind has gotten up dramatically over the last hour or so.

The reason why radar echos aren't accurate to actual rainfall at the lower levels is because not only are cloud bases around 12,000ft, there is also a lot of dry air below that so most of the rain is evaporating. However, surface based storms that may develop later, will be much lower and be more accurate with rainfall radar.

Well, after some good action this morning with 2 thunderstorms, for a while the air became cooler and more fresher but now the temperature has soared and the humidity has risen, feeling more humid out there than yesterday with still some Ac and Ac Cas floating around. I am watching that line of thunderstorms moving up through central Cornwall with most of this coming from a convergence line, this is most likely to move eastwards over this afternoon which might cause more thunderstorms to break out over Devon and later Dorset and Somerset.

What do people think to this theory?

33.1c here, just watching the clouds to the south blow in. It certainly feels ripe, would put it on par with a juicy Nebraskan morning, as Paul said, the crapvection is rife! in spite of us Essex folk not quite in the Estofex L2, I'm just going to keep an eye on the radar....

Blue sky all morning, temperatures and the humidity shot up with the temperature being around the 33 to 34 mark. Now cloud has come in and getting quite dark all of a sudden, again like others have said within areas where storms were not forecast'd to break out so much it actually feels like the sky's may explode.
