This is misleading - some of those charts clearly show storms firing further south, particularly the NMM and UKMO. As soon as things fire they will very quickly electrify (given high CAPE and high cloud tops).

Either way in the next 2-3 hours we will know what's what :D

Humidity definitely building in London.

Apologies, its because i only posted the 3AM timeframe as that was showing the heaviest precip totals. You are of course correct, storms will form further South :)

Alt Cas, towering altocumulus here now.

Edit: Currently in west Wiltshire.

I see some towering clouds, so maybe they are the same type.

Not much on netweather radar. I will be watching very carefully tonight.

There will be nothing, until it all explodes. If it does... :D

Altocumulus trying to tower here too.. think it's too early for anything major to form from it though

post-7593-0-10224000-1435943988_thumb.jp

Edit: by the time I've posted that tower has got higher so proper towering AC now..

Edit again: not very solid looking though, probably just unstable precursor clouds

In addition to which, many of the forecasts are suggesting that nothing will really kick off until 21:00/22:00 anyway.

hope so because my mum is out collecting for a charity and she doesn't like this weather either of course not to the same level as me

Lol no worries - just trying to avoid the inevitable "oh so nothing forming in my area then".

What forms and doesn't form is a different question entirely

Storms look well scattered and not particularly intense down here but midlands north, if the bbc is right, is where we want to be tonight.

Interesting, the Atlantic is showing something. Maybe this is going to be a west event.  :yahoo:

Just going by bbc weather, showers will feed north through our area but will be fairly well scattered, as moving north they will gather strength and become more organised, but that's just the forecast off the tv. I know nothing

Seen some nice 'plumey' type clouds today, it's been a lovely summers day topping 27C here. Really don't think the south will see much tonight in the way of storms or heavy rain. Might get the usual drizzle lol. Hope I'm wrong of course.
