Hi all, looks like there could be quite a significant rain event here, going by the radar it looks like I might be in a bit of a sweet spot too. Met Office forecasting to 70mm ... Bloomin heck! Grass was getting very yellow here so perhaps just in time.

Hadn't failed to reach 20C on any day for weeks but currently 14.1C.

Rain has eased a little bit here to light rain. I think the worst has passed now with intermittent moderate bursts from now on.

Double that guess I would say at least. I am on 10 mm already and now 11mm

You were right main band has passed over now and despite weakening I recorded 16.8mm and its still raining. Way above my 10mm guess.

Would you ever think it could be just 13c at approaching 15.00 in July?

Also, can you imagine if this Channel Low had come in winter!!

Looking out the window here the clouds are clearly going East to West more quickly than before . What's happening some sort of intensification in the channel?I understand that as we are north of the low the air movement is East to West but really picked up now.

Another 19.4mm to about five minutes ago, that makes 24.6 from the system so far.  Temperature is now down to 13.6°C.  Off to check July record low max temps....

What an atrocious day it's been, thought I'd time warped ahead to autumn, that's what it felt like out there today.

This is going to be my first day with a rainfall total of over 25mm since February 2014.   From 09.00 GMT to five minutes ago the total is 25.5, but there are still showers lurking to add to that.  Temp still at 13.6°C.

30mm as of 20.00 when I checked the gauge, the wettest day since mid October 2014 and the wettest July day since my recording began in 2005! And still raining now!

Off to Cornwall in the morning, extremely grateful it will be a fine day considering Sunday looks awful and God forbid Michael Fish's Net Weather forecast shows a repeat of today on Wednesday!!!! So hopefully it won't be too showery Monday/Tuesday!!!

Davis says 32.0mm overall from the system here, while my manual gauge read 35.3mm.

I'm sometimes surprised when people mention totals such as 25-30mm being the highest they've recorded, we usually get at least a couple daily totals around that per year here. 2012 gave 3 instances of totals around 60-75mm in 24 hours, though that was unusual as the only other occasion of 50mm+ in my records is March 2013.

Final total for the whole system to 09.00 today was 33.3mm, the 24 hour total to the same time was 28.1mm.  That's the highest daily total since 27mm on February 4th 2014 and the highest July total since 29mm on 27th 2013.

Still cool today but at least it's dry.
