Looking at raintoday Barnstable should get hit but the meaty part of it is West Cornwall, another system also hitting the Isle of Wight, Hampshire, Sussex at the same time.

Hi gang!!

Question....

What is the determining factor/s in deciding what sort of lightning dominates any particular storm....?

I mean, some storms are dominated by CG stuff and others inter cloud and intra cloud seem to prevail.. Are there mechanisms to each type/dominance?

Cheers;

Speedway Slider.

Will any of this get to Leicester before 08:30 this morning do you think?

And for the uk

A level 1 was issued for England mainly for excessive precipitation and to a lesser extent large hail.

It seems that the more lively batch of thunderstorms is lying in the 15C 850hPa temp as shown below...

The storms will never reach the south coast tonight, I've noticed the storms follow a path up the French coast on fast looping radar runs.

I have a feeling the storm cells that are heading East going along the side of the south-east coast will only be heavy rain when it reaches us

Looks like the low is moving very slowly, the main front is where the thunder is stuck if the low moves north so will the front and so will the thunder.

Looks like Kent is gonna bear the brunt of this one.

And finally woken up by thunder and lightning from the slowest approach of a storm ever. About a rumble a minute though so not overly active!

Thanks Mesoscale, it could take a while, doesn't look like its gonna die off just yet. Insects are getting inside so have to keep door shut unfortunately.

The 1 around 3 am a couple of nights ago had sustained winds like a hurricane for a while. Flashes were also frequent, I need to post the videos of it yet though. They were mostly just flashes but I didnt catch a fantastic cg and a couple of anvil crawlers.

That very distant rumble I've been hearing all night is getting slightly louder now. Still very distant though, no rain yet.
