Great photo's.

From memory that was when the whole region was on for a heavy fall and then at the last minute it took a more southerly course. The Channel Islands got battered, with those of us near the coast right on the northern edge of things.

As things stand right now I guess I'd take a repeat of that but it is annoying to get snow so late in the season as it just doesn't hang around no matter how cold it is.

Thanks lawrenk,

Yes that band of snow hit us right on the coast, and channel isles got hit bad!

surely this weather has got to change at least by mid month next month!

may have to get my shorts out by the end of the week lol

That channel low did reach as far north as Orpington quite light snow there if I remember or I'm going doolally there was a diagonal cut off line I think heartbreak for some lol although the most heavy precipitation was going to waste in English Channel the S Coast did if I can remember experienced heavy drifting snowfall and it was of the powder type? - chino got a good dumping I remember as I watched things unfold in here and I got incredibly jealous but enjoyable stuff. I'm still awaiting my Thames streamer...

Hi guys I was just wondering if anyone here thinks that we could get any travel disruption in the south east from the strong winds forecast for next week? Thanks

Welcome back Amanda, I see the threat of gusts has made you come out of hibernation ;) same as earlier in year really, at this stage too early to know for certain. We should know more by the end of the week, I think it will just be tricky driving conditions when the gusts are accompanied by heavy rain showers.

To far off yet, but there does seem to be an increasing zonal signal in the week up to Christmas with the jetstream strengthening and moving south, the window seems to be between the 21st and 24th where we could see the chance of some potent secondary lows that could bring some very strong winds. But the details need to be firmed up.

This one isn't too bad to be honest

Worth keeping an eye on but nothing to be concerned about yet.

Nice to see that in life some things are constant.

Like waking up to another cloudy day. :wallbash:

Woodburner mothballed, lawnmower still in use, duvet still on summer tog. And today I'll break the news to my son-in-law that me and him won't be getting any skiing done next week on our family Christmas in the small skiing resort of Feldberg in Germany.  :(

Same Old... Same old... Another warm Muck grey day.

Anyone remember what sunshine is? I've forgotten!!

With the rest of the month pretty much forecast to be much of the same = Mild/Wet/Grey with 5 minutes of a sunny interval, thank god its Christmas and something to look forward to, because if this was 15th January it would feel pretty bleak for me right now. I wouldn't even be able to get my snow fix in my January visit to Austria

What a yucky morning, It seems this mildness will continue to bring the drab that goes with it :wallbash:

Is it just me that is not feeling Christmas at all? The weather, no good Christmas films on tv yet, out and about doesn't feel like Christmas in regards to atmosphere in places. Feels weird having Christmas Decorations up with this mild weather, now I know what it's like having a Christmas in Sydney :D:nonono:

Thoroughly miserable day here - cloudy, misty, drizzly, damp and not especially mild yet either.

Well today was a gloom-fest, I think some of the street lights remained on all day. A high of 11C.

A dull dismal day devoid of happiness.

It feels really quite muggy and wet as if it was early April ironically we're not far away from winter solstice. Mild brings this weather it's not mid summer when the strong sun can 'burn' all the crud away!

To be honest this month has got to the level of hilariously bad.

The next time we will see single figure temperatures at any time will probably be Sunday night, which is 5 days away.

Wow.
