Atlantic Storm #2 Barney

Recommended Posts

indeed ,still looks like some fearsome weather to come though ..

Very wild weather to come over the next 12 hours for a fair few

The dynamics aren't right for sting jet development which are associated with explosively deepening storms. Barney is forecast to fill as he crosses the UK.

Yep, this is the only thing that put me of going into more detail

Where's all this wind? It's only just classed as "windy" here, hopefully a full on gale this evening. *fingers crossed*

Gusts widely 50-60mph over Ireland now with the strongest winds expected over the next few hours there - http://www.xcweather.co.uk/

Also, take a look at xcweather forecasts, the wales location which has just had a 75 gust isn't meant to peak until around 6pm, with a peak of 68mph.

Maybe we could see most figures 5-10mph up over forecasts during the peak :)

The Arpege model has some nasty gust speeds forecast for N. Wales this evening - is the development ahead of schedule?

Wind really picking up here now following a brief bout of heavy squally rain. Highest gust 42mph so far.

Scary part is even xcweather only wanted 65mph max there.. and that is in an hour-two hours time

Aberdaron? Yeah, For some reason the wind speed gets enhanced there when blowing from a certain direction and is sometimes quite a bit higher then other stations nearby, Capel Curig is another one.

Very heavy rain now ,flooding more likely the problem here than the wind .

Same here, thankfully it's moving through pretty quickly.

We all know the place(s) which will receive the highest gusts, but when do we think we will see the first 80mph+ gust on xcweather? :D

Does anyone know when peek winds will be for each sector/area?  I'm in Devon?  I'm sure peek winds here will be about 4pm - 5pm?

Erm....

attachicon.gifconvective showers.jpg

Estofax picked up on some potent showers forming these will aid increased convective wind gusts..

Yes we've not had much rain at all in my area of Devon to be honest, when we have it has not been heavy at all and this has been for months now
