Clutching at straws perhaps but if I lived in the far north and particularly the northern isles I'd be keeping an eye in the model output for Christmas Day - there's some very cold air nearby and in the last few days the models have been flirting with it briefly affecting these areas. 6z GFS has -12c 850s into Lerwick on the afternoon of the big day - outside chance of a white Christmas?

Today's my last day up here till next year so thanks for that wee nugget.  :santa-emoji:  (I think I prefer Caithness in summer...)

Can you actually tell the difference?

Temp steady here at 6.4C but it's actually cleared up to blue skies and sunshine (well, not for long given that sunset is almost upon us). Next few days are forecast to be quite sunny, so at least that will be nice.

Downright evil cloud approaching as what looks like a really sharp shower about to hit

Much cooler here too and breezy with a few light showers which makes it feel even colder.   Got the woolly hat on again when working outside, currently 5c

Just had a heavy hail shower in Edinburgh which turned the roads white,  just as I left the office so perfect timing! It was actually quite sore !!

Pretty zilch, I'd imagine.

Maybe in Devon, but i heard rumours things may get interesting up in the highlands

It's nothing to do with Devon, I'm saying there's nothing on the ground there, there's hardly any on the Cairngorms either!

Scotland does look rather wintry over the festive period with a rather good chance of a white Christmas for some of you and I'm not talking just about those with great elevation either.

Arrived home yesterday after a long weekend visiting family in the Wee County. It was ridiculously warm, 14.5c up to 15c and so warm at night the duvet was flung off the bed with astounding regularity! That's not normal for December. And I see wee have a return to the wet and windy routine Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Aye, I'd miss it if we had sunny, calm and cold weather in winter! One lives in hope.....

Daniel, I'm not saying there's no chance of snow, I'm saying lying snow at the moment is unlikely!

Ok, well none of us have helped you very well seen as Daniel hasn't even posted all of the charts for that period.

I've helped a substantial deal more than what you've done, you compelled me to post!

23rd to 25th looks good it will turning milder on Boxing Day as southwesterlies return extending all the way out till the end of your stay. I wouldn't listen to William...

Actually early Boxing day looks to be best for Aviemore on the 12Z ECM.

Snow more to the west on the previous days.
