Ah well, clearing up here now. Patches of blue sky and light cloud, ground drying, no wind and the sun even making an appearance. A vast improvement on this morning.

Oh, and the impressively steady increase in temperature for Dyce continues unabated.

Exactly the same here walls in steading all sweating. On pneumonia alert in cattle with the wild swings in temperature in spite of vaccination. Currently 11c so think I will clean windows outside this afternoon.

Very foggy start in Crail. Has cleared up in St Andrews, mild afternoon at 11c.

Currently December temperature anomalies in Scotland are mostly running in the +0.5c to +2c range, so not nearly as anomalously mild as down south. I expect they will creep up over the next few days though. http://www.met.reading.ac.uk/~brugge/CURR.html

Ha. Costa del AGW.  9C here too, I can't persuade myself to remove layers though, I'm glued into my winter garb too well.

I find an unzipped jacket and a casually throw on scarf maintains the winter look while allowing your body temp to avoid breaching the fever threshold :p

Much more like this and we'll be in dangerous territory... ahem.thumb.jpg.2fbc6a0eafaee270598349462

Hi, I was tempted to 'like' that post, but on second thoughts it might give the wrong impression.

Seeing as that's effectively me in the photo I thought what's not to like.

13.5C outside at the moment, which at 7:30am in mid Dec up here is just nuts.

Can't say it feels as mild as is being claimed, pretty wet, blustery and pretty chilly

Weather station was reading 10.7C when I left for work this morning. Not quite as extreme as yesterday but still way out of kilter from where we should be. Otherwise there's a breeze and a shroud of medium level cloud, but dry.

ECM being just a little bit more bullish about colder temps after Xmas than the GFS at the moment. Take this for example...

Agreed the charts are looking really interesting as early as the 2nd Jan! Looks like a whole northern circle of cold air enveloping Scotland.

The highest was 17.2c at Achnagart in the NW Highlands.

I don't even think that was much of a Fohn.

Cloudy but dry, light winds, 12c here in St Andrews. Saw a guy in shorts earlier!

More very mild air moving in overnight as the Met Office forecast points out: Exceptionally mild night with temperatures reaching the low teens for many. Minimum Temperature 11°C.

11c is the average min for July!

As Ravelin points out ECM offers something more seasonable between Christmas and New Year. I think we'd all welcome some frost and some sunshine!
