Snowing at 700ft Altguish! Temps dropping so don't right off any wet snow for people above 500ft later on.

Good to see higher Scotland blanketed for the occasion. In Dollar temps plummeted to 3.4 and we had rain, hail and some wet snow from the heaviest shower on the mainland at the time (which I found exciting). It has settled over Whitewisp Hill and the King's Seat from my position, lying down to about 1000-1500ft.

Nice to see some snow in winter for a change and not a blooming cherry tree!

Before my grandkids moved to Milton of Leys, in late November, they'd never seen snow. Now they have. Merry Christmas Scotland!:santa-emoji::santa-emoji::santa-emoji:

Horizontal wet snow up here.

Just been over the hills to pick up in laws from Stow station.

Bitter. Car reading 2 C at one point and what was falling at one point did look a bit sleety.

3.2 C here at fort SS. DP = +0.8.

Very pleased to report snow here in Aviemore - white Christmas here we come :cold-emoji:

Have a great Christmas everyone.

I hope you get more, looks like you've only had a bit of the light stuff so far. :)

I get Christmas dinner tonight + pressies!

In laws are French and that's how they do it. Who am I to argue.

Another lunch the morn too.

Aw man they've brought some good wines and champers: I was still at school when some were bottled. Will make up for the lack of snaw.

Have nice Christmas eve all. Great to hear some are getting a wee white one.

A photo from this afternoon showing the snow coming down off the high ground to the south west.  PC240463.thumb.JPG.56210bf7172d131d21314 As you can see from the photo ground too wet for it to ly. Currently 1.5c, a bit breezy and a ground frost developing

"The snow was deeper in the 80's.."

A favourite Xmas compilation track of mine. seems more apt this year!

Hope you all have an amazing Xmas & holidays!

Just had a very unexpected flash of lightning here. Guess if we can't have snow on Christmas Eve then a thunderstorm is the next best thing!

Can't see anything on the radar really - very strange. Definitely a flash of lightning followed by thunder though.

Not a substation popping then?

And a big :good:to Rav for spotting the potential pattern change earlier today.  Looking possible for a white New Year now although this is just the start...

You can say that, it was very unexpected which makes it all the most exciting -today has been a good meteorological day.

Next heavy shower knocking at the door...

Well, that's my first white christmas eve! As I type, big fat flakes fall onto warm, soggy ground so no chance of it settling but oh it's so pleasing to look at...long may it continue!
