The most alarming thing is that this photo was actually taken in Wirral.

Unsure next week - wet mild Wed Thursday onwards

At some point next week it will be milder, maybe 9 or 10oC, but there is still uncertainty on exactly when. Thursday looks a good call for now, staying cold until then! But mainly dry, except for Monday which may still provide some white stuff (but might not!)

-1.3oC in Salford, registering 0oC at Manchester airport. Is it that much warmer in Chorlton?

Yes we have a particularly effective snow shield....its the latest model that keeps out the snow but lets in the rain

Heaviest snow of the day now......really coming down.

depth is about 3 inches which considering where we were a couple of hours ago isn't bad.

Heavy rain now, not even a sign of sleet.

We had one installed that does all of that but also pushes it all into Yorkshire.

thankfully it started leaking a while ago and some of it is now sneaking through here.

Still falling _ has been since 2pm . No big totals in depth but for our area this is exceptional - busting the myth that you dont get anything from a NW flow,

Radar does show the ppn beefing up at the back end, suggesting it lasting a little longer. GFS suggests it won't stop till 6-9am, BBC and Meto weather apps say 1 or 2am. I was thinking earlier it would be done by midnight, now not so sure. As people have said, shame it isn't heavier, mainly moderate as been snowing since about 3pm here but not much to show for it considering the length of time, although obviously just nice to have decent snow which has laid, so not complaining at all!

The back end of this is now about to push into the coast, should be clearing from the north and west soon.
