Well can say it's raining but looks to have a few wisps of snow in the mix here. Think further east , and south should have more snow mixed in as you have more hours of ppn. Been raining here since around 2 pm

It's tipping down here, still warm!  4.7 and 3.5

Ive done the sensible thing and gone to bed early!  Snuggled under duvet listening to the rain, not too bad! :D

My nearest Wunderground station is showing 4.7C, with a surprisingly high dewpoint of 2C.

If your not in the warning zone i wouldnt stay up

I wouldn't stay up if you are in the warning zone, let alone out of it! It will take a freak change of events for most of us to salvage some snow from this. Sorry if that sounds negative, but with everything I have looked at this will be a complete non-event for most in our region. All eyes on the next day 10 charts!!....

Very fine drizzle here not long started, unable to tell from lampost so put black top on and some of it is definitely of the snizzle variety.

John Hammond is the Met Office Advisor for the Local Authorities in EA and he sent out the following email to the Planning Depts at 11.43 this morning.

From: Hammond, John (Advisor)
Sent: 17 February 2016 11:43

Subject: Updated Information from the Met Office Advisor: Continuing Risk of Snow

Morning all,

Here is an update to the risk of snow falling across the East of England later today, then overnight and into Thursday morning.
Overall, the weather situation is largely the same as yesterday. However, a subtle – but very important for us – shift in the expected eastward extent of a very slow-moving weather front, means that snow is possible over a wider area of our region.
So then, through the rest of today, cloud will continue to thicken from the west, with outbreaks of rain firstly and erratically arriving across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire. This rain  seems almost reluctant to move east across the whole region – but eventually it claws its way into much of Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex by around midnight tonight.

It is as we head through this evening, that rain is likely to turn to sleet or snow – this then continuing through the night into Thursday morning. Again – and to reiterate, this snow situation is very finely balanced but where we do see snow falling, amounts of 2 to 5cm of snow are possible – and this could fall in just 2 or 3 hours.

Timing of this snow means for some locations, it could coincide with the morning rush hour on Thursday – therefore adding to the risk of possible disruption.

To reflect these latest forecast details, the Met Office has updated yesterday’s Alert and issued a Yellow Warning of Snow that covers virtually all of the East of England. This Warning continues to bring a Very Low Likelihood of Medium Impacts – and remains valid from 2000 Wednesday until 1000 Thursday.

Although all areas in the region could see some snow, the places more likely to see somewhat limited snow amounts currently look like being the coastal districts of Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex.

In the wake of the sleet and snow, widespread ice could form on untreated surfaces for a time by daybreak. Eastern coasts will be the last see the back of any remaining sleet or snow through Thursday morning – by which time, most of us will have turned drier and then eventually brighter from the west. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing during Thursday, helping to thaw any lying snow by day.

I remember after the long drawn out late winter in 2013,what followed the major march snowfall was a sucsesion of 'events' simuler to tonights well into April.

Even with more snow on offer in those spells the place was quite, roll onto the death throws of winter 2015/16 and we are all hoping for a few crumbs to cheer us,that just would not have even raised an eyebrow during a winter that had any decent snow events.

Not expecting much tonight although it felt quite chilly about half an hour ago also we are not in the warning zone as ever Norfolk and east Anglia are so frustratingly close yet again
