Lots of development to the west and south of here. Suddenly looking very promising!

Very humid in Leeds cloudier sky's now but amazingly the sun is still sneaking through

Yes the sun has just made an appearance here. Still plenty of towering clouds to the west and south west. Holding out for something later but by this point I doubt anything will happen.

Showers are developing quickly. Tiny shower N of Birmingham has just produced a Sferic. Wasn't there 5 mins ago.

Hi, what I meant was do you have a gizmo that tells you if a strike is - or + or are you saying it's - or + based on the way the strike looks, or ?

I see lightning, but can not be absolutely sure if it was a positive or negative strike, or can you tell the difference just by the way the strike looked ?

It's not the look its the sound. Positive strick are the ones that make things shake and set off car alarms.

A very mean-looking cell to my east at the moment. Just let out a big boom as I was typing the first sentence. There was a shelf cloud visible a few minutes ago but it has been obscured by the haze.

A nice little cooling breeze here in lochmaben, much more manageable, especially for my old dog.

Nice little cell popped up southwest of here and has wasted no time in producing thunder.

The next hour or two are our time for storms I reckon!

Guys in the path watch the storm leaving Milton Keynes. It has a wall cloud on it with rotation, lightning is constant and the thunder is like nothing I've heard before. Sounds incredibly powerful and so deep and booming.

Can confirm the Sferic in Merseyside isn't real.

The wind is cold here, yet humidity has gone up from 50%-60%.
