The Brum storm hasn't spat out any lightning for a bit..and all has gone quiet to my east. For now anyway...

Was speaking to my 6yr old son on the phone in Wolverhampton earlier and the rain was so heavy, I could hear it, even a couple of rumbles...

Well it's Day 3 of this 'thundery spell' and we've seen only dry and sunny. Right now is the first time in this spell that threatening clouds have appeared.

Will this eve see T&L and rain here?

You too, eh? I haven't seen a single convective cloud since the bank holiday; the sky's been either spotlessly clear or covered in North Sea cack!

According to Netweather Storm Forecast, around 7pm this evening is our chance.

Not that i crave unsettled, even in form of storms. I'm firmly in the "Give me another Summer '76" camp!

Dodged all the showers yesterday but finally took a direct hit, are the London wide?

Looks like most parts of london got something a few hours ago. I heard some rumbles and saw a bolt of IC in tower hamlets just before 3pm. My home in bexley also got two storms earlier hence the flooded slip road on the way home.

Rain is getting heavier again here. Think the thing is still growing even if the T and L seems to have died off.

That is a rather impressive radar signature, like a miniature hurricane.

Have the cupboard ready just in case or dive under the stairs if you've got a little harry potter style stair cupboard! When I was a kid and terrified of storms I'd always find a place with no windows to hide in until it had passed. Now of course I'm the complete other way - love storms and can't get enough of them, but I remember what I used to be like when I was frightened and can sympathise with you.

Is there any way to tell on the radar what is most likely to produce a storm, apart from the obvious colour? I'm being thick, i know.

ah well, never mind, its suddenly gone off to the west (i think)!!!

Cell flared up SE of here, all electrical activity has mysteriously disappeared on radar. Very clear skies now.
