It' getting a bit savage over on the mod.thread.

Fatigue is setting in and misinterpretation is rife.

Just seen the GFS 00z.

The big question is wether Salwick is ready for 48 hours of sleet

I'd settle for 30" if the snow Gods want to spread the other 5" elsewhere! ?

Yep just a shame the snow depth charts are not in the reliable time frame because it looks like most of the region could get an absolute dumping.

When we had the cold north to northwesterlies about a month ago they didn't really deliver here, mainly sleet & hail. However back then the Irish sea temperature was running at 8.9C (a little below average) but not great for us near the coast. Next week it's looking more and more like a pretty cold spell of northwesterly winds with showers, now I wouldn't normally get too bothered by it but again the Irish sea is running a little below average only this time it is now reading 7.2C a big difference! A better chance then for us on the coast if this setup verifies. Watching with interest.

If we could just get those uppers a degree or two colder we may well be in business next week.

Yes, they are varying run to run some have been cold enough some haven't. Plenty of time for changes so fingers crossed.

I'm watching the snow  predictions very closely for next week.

It doesn't take much to grind Glossop / Hadfield to a standstill due to the one main road in/out. Trying to do the back road through Charlesworth/Broadbottom/Mottram would be a non starter if the forecast is to be believed.

I'm thinking that when its mild we get rain shower after rain shower off the Irish sea. To see the same with snowfall would be epic and like 2009/10

Next week might be interesting...but your going to need to be 300m minimum imo..

And why is that Interesting Mate.

Think we need to see how this evolves But from my POV its looking good for any were in the Region,I don't need to tell you this but you need to take all factors into consideration.

Writing it off before it has begun is a bit foolish IMO

If GFS is correct then I don’t agree.

Can’t wait for the weather warning for fog to turn into a non event like the others this season have done.

i hate fog though so no doubt this one will be seriously underestimated.

as for next week, i’ve got my virtual shovel ready for the serious dumping of potential i’m expecting to fall.

Going to keep posting the latest chart showing 'potential' snow showers for the region as a whole and see if it moves closer and then also if it verifies especially nearer the coast, I want to see how we do this time with the Irish Sea temps running nearly 2c lower to last month (only hail/sleet here back then).

So at the mo we are at 138hrs and onward which puts us at Tues 16th am.

GFS is the best solution all round IMO Trough digging into Europe will give us another cold shot shortly after, the ECM Solution although cold at first next week does not dig the trough into Europe instead gives a very nasty low

which would probably give snow on its northern edge.

If snow is your thing prey the GFS Is not leading us the Garden path again
