Or marginality won't be a problem, because it completely avoids us (bar Lincolnshire) 😄 In seriousness should stick to the high res models. Will change track several times between now and Monday

Could contain: Plot, Chart, Map, Atlas, Nature, Outdoors, Sea, Water, Rainforest, Person

Same as the December cold spell for me. Apart from maybe a few hrs on Monday I think it'll be predominantly dry.

Oh dear, James Madden has crept out from under his stone with a pronouncement!  I guess this completely puts the mockers on it now.  Never knowingly understated!  🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

James Madden, forecaster for Exacta Weather, said: "There is the potential for what could be a widespread snow event across large parts of the country, and this is expected around the start of next week.

"The snow is likely to hit northern regions first, but we now expect southern areas to see some snow within this period.

"This could be heavy in parts, and lead to accumulation, and this is likely to cause disruption on the roads and travel networks.

"Northern England could see rain turning to snow in places from as early as this weekend and into Monday of next week.

"People should prepare for disruption, especially on travel networks, as consistent and heavy snow showers and blizzards hit."

Downgrade time on the GFS and a chance the low for Sunday edging further on next few runs. The low also at present trundles nothwards later on close to the east coast so plenty of annoying rain for them.

UKMO and GFS both a bit naff to be honest. ECM a little better but a very short cold snap.

Rain on the radar for us well more like drizzle. Could do with a heavier spell so I can soap the car down and then let the rain  wash it off.

Well that's going to make Monday mornings drive home fun. As long as it doesn't shut the 169!

Good grief the met Office text forecast for us is depressing. It just sounds like a shorter, breezier version of the December spell. 😭 Anyway, luckily all the snow round here seems to fall in March and April nowadays so not long to wait now 😂

I don’t really listen to the met office when it comes to snow events in Yorkshire

I don't know why I have a bad feeling about this winter. I would have expected to at least seen a flake by now.

Each shower is getting more 'solid' it seems?

They're popping out of the Irish Sea & intensifying as they run up the Pennine slope.....then fade after Leeds....

I wonder if they'll stop overnight?

Most of the showers are decaying before they reach the East side of Yorkshire, dry over here but blowing a hoolie!

No wind here and too mild for snow. You could push the wind further south for a bit of interest.

Each model shows a different outcome for tonight , but there is a chance of some snow, more Northern areas (North of Leeds)  generally favoured but will come down to Nowcasting.

Being picked up on a number of models (NMM, Arpege, Icon) which is interesting but you’re right - will be a case of seeing if anything materialises at the time. A good time for some settling snow - some people may wake up to a surprise tomorrow morning.

Worth noting there is still model disagreement regarding the track of this feature tonight even less that 24 hours away.

The UKMET model for example doesn't even get it north of Sheffield.
