Hopefully a cool night for sleeping now...

Just had a very juicy downpour in Bridlington and one rumble of thunder. Got dark pretty quickly and then monsoon type rainfall.

A real treat for the birds as they had a good wash after a beautiful afternoon on the east coast.

Yes a sudden deluge has washed everything once again and a lush look continues this summer 😎

Hull yet again seem to miss the heavy rain again.have to water my garden niw

Its amazing isn't it? We dodge all of the snow in this area in winter and then all of the storms in summer!

There has only been 6.8mm of rain so far this month. We're almost halfway through the summer and have had just 37mm!

Interesting view of the wind turbines taken from Bridlington Harbour this morning with low lying mist to the south. Taken by my wife

I travelled through heavy rain all the way from near Leeds to Whitby last night, with flashes of lightning visible from the moors coming into Whitby. Thankfully, the rain moved off as soon as I arrived in the town and the rest of the night was dry and not too warm. Today has not been a bad day but rain started at 5pm and has been on and off since then, rather as forecast.

Wind was a feature today, WSW Force 5 - 6. A headwind for the first 3.5 miles of my daily cycle, but with temps at 19c I am not going to complain, much better than last year in July when it felt like some one had opened the doors to the furnaces in Hell🤣.  Not much sun. Then this shower made its first spots of rain felt and I decided to change my route. Managed to avoid most of it, got a bit damp on the last half mile.

I was watching  the cricket at Chester-le-Street with friends yesterday and we seemed to lead a charmed life with almost uninterrupted play throughout the day, despite a dire forecast. Today back at Whitby, it started showery but brightened up this afternoon, but with a couple of showers this evening. At C-l-S they clearly had reasonable weather again as Durham bowled out Gloucs to maintain their push for promotion in the County Championship.

Well lunchtime ride was completed just before the rain got going. Wind was SE force 5, cloudy and 15c. By the time I got back it was very light rain, just enough to make you damp. Has now turned into a wet afternoon.

Heard that one here too. Unfortunately it's the only one.

Unbelievably we're still dry so far!

A lot of thunder and lightning, with one downpour here, and more incoming. I was cutting firewood, but I have given up as it looks like another downpour to the SW

Few rumbles is all I've heard so far here. Had some very heavy showers but it's all developing after they've passed

No thunder here and the showers were light in the afternoon until just now. The morning ones were short and sharp. Missed a heavy shower while walking in the peak district in the morning and caught it driving home if I caught it a bit later there would have been a few floods to drive through.

This was Saturday’s downpour between Fordon & Wold Newton, taken by Adam Buxton-Kirk. Pic from FB, used with permission. Great pic 👍🏼

Lunchtime here produced a WSW force 5-6, with sunny intervals and temps at 20c. Some dark looking clouds to our south, but nothing more than a few spots of rain here so far. Quite a bit of convection visible to the NW as well.
