Heavy rain this morning was replaced by sunny intervals, so lunchtime bike ride happened, but was cut short by a combination of wind, a flooded road and the need to negotiate road works.

Wind was SW force 6-7 probably gusting 8 once out of the shelter of the village, with sunny intervals, temps of 11C.

Nothing of note here from storm Debi. 11mm recorded this morning and South Yorkshire completely missed the wrap around rain we were supposed to get this afternoon. Stayed to the north.

Been a windy afternoon but nothing major. Max gust 32mph just after 4pm so far.

It has been quite bad for Dishforth today, numerous trees have fallen onto the roads and we have had a power cut since 15:30 with the grid saying it may be up to 4:30am until we get the power back.

Just had an update from the grid, 6000 homes without power around the areas of Northallerton, Thirsk, western edges of the Moors, and all the surrounding villages; however some areas have power again including here.

Both the river Ure and river Skell have burst their banks this morning in Ripon with more rain coming. I’m a little surprised by the lack of rain warnings.

The surface water flooding which caused me to divert my bike ride yesterday was if anything worse today, so rode a different route. Fortunately up on the Wolds there is hardly any flowing surface water, the only water course I am aware of on the chalk area is the Gypsey Race, and this tends to be seasonal.

Winds yesterday were close to 60mph gusts, followed by more rain overnight and this morning with a stubborn rain band right over us.

Managed to get out between the showers, with even a bit of sun between, Winds now very light Force 1-2 , variable but mainly W and temperatures 9c

A better day today, surface water flooding leaving the village had subsided enough for me to cycle through it, so I was able to resume my normal route.

Broken Cloud, wind was a bit of pain, SW force 4-6, a headwind for the first 3.5 miles, somehow the help when heading home never seems to make up for slog on the outward leg. Temperatures 9c. Not too bad for a mid November day.

Hit 'Turbo' on the E-bike Mike, makes light work of any head on winds 😉

The other day I had a wee butcher's through the bicycle-shop window -- £1300 quid for a bike? Not on your nelly! 😁

I thought I'd share this chart for a bit of early festive fun. 28th November just over a week away.

Looking good for East Yorkshire and North Yorkshire.

Not 100% obviously but great to look at snow showers for coastal areas and a few popping up inland.

Octon area, Sledmere ,Staxton Hill,

Lunchtime ride produced a NNE force 4 wind with 9c and long sunny intervals. Looked to be more cloud to the west, but so far no rain here yet today. Ground still looks waterlogged. Overall for November not too bad.

Good morning folks of East and North Yorkshire. Get your winter tyres fitted ASAP your going to need them. Chart below next Wednesday onwards, chart viewing for me for the past few days has blown me away to be honest,  even Darren Betts has changed his forecast.

Looking at the 18z I don't think there's any upgrades needed imo.

Seriously, take care next Wednesday onwards and I mean everyone.

Well lunchtime bike ride was only half a ride today, as I spent the best part of half an hour of my lunch hour fixing a puncture before I set off. B****y hawthorn thorn from hedge cutting.

Wind was strong, WSW force 4-6 and a tough head wind on the uphill outward leg. Cloudy, and temps of 11c.
