Light covering much to my surprise for us fenland lowlanders after yesterday’s total thaw.
Hawes and the N Pennines taking a hit.

Snow fell all night, just measured 9cms on the lawn, not a massive amount for 24 hours of snowfall but the wet snow has compacted some what. Still a great fall and a lot more than I expected to see.

Checked the not to be trusted rain radar and pink again thinking must have some lying snow. Then here cars travelling freely on what sounded like wet roads. Looked outside and it's a wet scene, no snow. Temp 1.7 degrees.

Answers on a postcard please?

Will be interesting to see where the snow line is. No reports on issues on high roads, so I'm wondering whether only very light stuff has fallen.

Very disappointing in what has been a very frustrating spell snow wise here. As said give me a front from off the Atlantic moving into cold air and there is no marginality..

Finally Wirral has got in on the action.. at least on the hillier western side. It's wet sleety snow but it is more than we usually have!

Although what has fallen will likely melt today it's good to see!

Moderate to heavy snow again after an hour or so lull. Looks like this could be the final significant batch as ppn on the radar is breaking up significantly around Manchester.

Strange, radar showing all pink across Cumbria?

Hard to tell yet as it's still quite dark but probably have two or so inches here.

Snow has stopped here and looks like only small bits and pieces to come now as ppn has completely died on radar. Shame as it looked like we might get quite a bit a couple of hours ago. However, we've got 1cm of snow cover here, which has equalled the best expectations I had yesterday, so no complaints. Just nice to see another fresh covering of snow.

Wouldn't be to sure bbc weather on breakfast looked amazing with snow continuing over south of the region until 1800

BBC Weather graphics on Breakfast look incredible for our patch, snow pretty much all day, really kicking in by 10am.

Sadly I don’t think it will play out like that here - the MetO app shows it completely dry all day! One of them is going to be very very wrong.

Snow picked up intensity in the past 30 mins after I wrote that, but doesn't reflect radar. Looks like it may be a day of ppn pepping up randomly.

About a cm here in hattersley. Drip drip going on already. Still another snow fall, and nice to take the dogs out and not end up muddy. 20210108_081110.thumb.jpg.8c1c6f5e333c1803f52067471521b43d.jpg
