Plenty of showers have passed through this end of the Estuary this morning, shame it’s not of the white sort. But, it’s showing convection isn’t the problem I suppose. Just need to get the parameters aligned. Still not convinced personally but let’s hope as we move in towards Tue/Weds we are the right side of marginal.

Yes had quite a few here in SE London the GFS model showed nothing getting inland.

The ECM has nothing as well all very predictable. Why people shouldn’t take PPN charts literally.

Well, Yabbadabbadoo, lots of drizzly rain showers (nae even a stray sleet blob!) so far, today... But, what should one expect -- when we have T850s of only -5C accompanied by high dps?❄️

Yep! nothing changes in the mod thread...New Year same old same there. With the PV so quiet for the last few weeks it's bound to wake up at some time (that's if the Euro's are correct), what happens later on is another matter but I wouldn't hang my hat on a SSW to bring in actual noteworthy cold.

I've come out untill hunting for the next cold spell, I find those hunting for a break down very annoying. Haven't even read any of it.

Lots of wintry showers here this morning, rain, sleet, ice pellets and hail. Only thing we’ve not had is snow.

Lovely cloud scapes between showers too.

Haha. Christ this can be a super depressing hobby can’t it. Has to be said though, it has gone a little Pete Tong hasn’t it. GFS v EC & UKMO...Let’s see if we can squeeze a light dusting Tues into Wednesday and worry about the aftermath later I suppose.

I don't think it has gone Pete Tong, truth is we've never had anything for our region progged by more than one model less than three days away. Until we have multiple models showing a snowfall in the t48 timeframe it's best not get excited. That way expectations can be managed..

Next shower incoming, though I haven't really looked if there's any sleet in them, I'll check this one out, and see. My temps and DP are lower than Langdon bay, higher up probably, though still not conducive for snow.

This afternoon / eve sees the -5/-6c isotherm arrive & dewpoints drop towards zero before rising again then dropping off again from the North tomorrow eve.

Chance for a few flakes in the showers today..

Hi Steve, what are your thoughts on SSW, do you think we're still in the game for a memorable spell?

I think GFS has this.. Feel free to quote me at 3:30 if I’m wrong however

Haha even if it did, it'd not realise its massive and rare achievement. Just keep running derangedly onward like Forrest Gump.

Currently 4.0c in St Leonard's and dry.

Saw several people swimming in the sea yesterday...maybe because pools are closed? Still, rather them than me

Chances are good > odds are for a memorable cold spell about 75% on...

Friday AM catches my eye!

Yes somewhere in the area could cop a fortunate one!☃️

Thanks for reply, must be annoying when people ask you pie in the sky questions. Much appreciated

The bbc weather forcast at 1pm (on radio) said there will be  spell of rain overnight in the SE and then tomorrow there will be further spells of rain. there might be some sleet over the hills. No mention of any snow. They did say if you are looking for mild weather then there is nothing at all mild on the horizon, and with most of the week being under a NE wind it will feel colder than the temps shown.
