Car reading -8 when I moved it earlier. Cloudy this morning. The milk on the doorstep was frozen solid despite being tucked in against the house. Boiler been making some very strange noises so got someone coming to look at it before it packs in completely.

Coldest I’ve driven in was 2010 on the very long straight between Dolphinton and West Linton.  -23 , and that was late morning!
Currently magnificent morning here.  -12 with -14 overnight.

There's a band of snow moving south this morning. Currently snowing in places like Carrbridge, Aviemore, Grantown on Spey, etc.

Will the snow come to the central belt later? Or will it fizzle out before it reaches here?

Cairngorms will soak that up... doubt anything will get south of there..

You may not believe it but one year Perth held the record for the coldest day of the year. It wasnt even that far back when there  were not many reports! 1956 was the year.

Here current temp is -6.1C

No real chance of anything until overnight Thursday into Friday, the models have the chance of precipitation into the Glasgow region for c.18hours from early Friday but it may be slightly too warm - one to watch over the next few days. Then there are further chances over the weekend and winds hopefully going round to the North West next week at times which gives us a better chance depending on how cold it gets but that's way off at the moment, certainly lots of interest!

Yeah Ross for sure.......north west and easterly are the best wind directions (especially easterly) in a cold spell like this.....for sure.....for central areas......the last 2 beast from the east events were just brilliant for snow for us......

The band of snow has passed through now and left a cheeky extra 1cm of pure powder.

It's not often you can say this, but the weather is warming from the north as the temperature has risen over 10c in the last 4 hours thanks to that band of snow - from -11.8c at 08:15 to the current -1.1c.
