Good morning, heavy snow again adding to the well over a foot we already have!!

Icon 6z shifting the precip south and brings the core of the precipitation to the central belt. Other models either agree or disagree significantly. A pain

Mornin' Kilties! Bit of a change here overnight. It rained for a while and the snow is all but gone from low levels. Temp 1.7c so if it stays like that at least the ice will shift. It also makes it easier for me to get out on my search for Black Gold... aye, coal! The hardware store in Kyle stocks stove ovoids so a trip over the bridge today should secure enough coal for maybe a couple of weeks so long as the temps don't drop as they did this week. And of course after I've bought coal guess who'll turn up, eh? Be good if he did though, that would be me stocked up for six weeks anyway!

Very heavy snow in Westhill and settling. Radar has it passing through for next 20 mins or so.

Think we're getting to the first stage of a general agreement, trying to do a rough average of the short range models that's looking a fair bet ATM with the first push of snow to give a few cms at the least for most of us 

 

As if that wasn't a tricky enough part to forecast we've got the dramas of Sunday to try figure out 🫣

I've told the kids to expect rain.. maybe freezing rain... told them absolutely no snaw to come.. apparently its just not fair as all their friends have snaw in Aberdeenshire and have been off school... i replied with "oh well thats life"..

Central Belt is going to need help from the weather gods to adjust this one unfortunately..

Met office have just amended the warning and increased possible snow totals for the cental lowlands to 5-10cm possible in places... Although still low liklihood.

Another very snowy morning, snow depths around 10-12 inches. Last nights mild blip thankfully disappeared with the spider.

BBC forecast for Irvine 4c and rain on Friday.. 8c and sleet on Sunday. I be v surprised if it's just rain on Friday.

Up to minus 5 (when I was up at least minus 7) could have been colder during the night really been a great cold week but all good things have to come to a end I suppose

Was really hoping for some snow tomorrow but getting worried it’s just going to be rain  

been some beautiful ice days here, if the trees can’t be all white with snow at least they look pretty all white with frost

As with yesterday morning, it was -8 again on the car again this morning. Clear sunny skies. Not expecting snow here but you never know. So much frost it’s almost starting to look like snow!

Even if we do not see another flake after Sunday  this winter we certainly have had  a very cold winter spell to at least remember. I have been surprised by the depth of the cold after a very warm autumn and the way it has lasted. Ground and sea  should have cooled a lot so very condusive to more snow should  the we get precipitation in more marginal temperatures. A cold late spring could be on the cards for northern Scotland.

Still a fraction of what we had just 2 years ago, but this winter has only just started. 

You can just about see the drifts in my garden on these, but wasn't the easiest light to get them to show up. It was actually much brighter than it looks, but trying to take photos into the sun.

Huntforsnow JamesM and kayemill I expect you good Ayrshire folk to see some snow tomorrow..inland and a  little elevation !!

Not so sure, I predict rain whilst @Ross Bwill have snow being a touch further inland and a bit more elevation.

Got some familiar sounds now - increasing frequency of dripping, and the ssshhhhhhhh noise you get from cars on soft slush in the street.
