[Quinach]

Heavy wet snow just now blowing near horizontal thanks to a very strong NW wind.  Melting a bit on hard surfaces but starting to build up on the grass. 

Brutal wind chill, not a night to be out.  Going by Fubar News Facebook roads a tad tricky over by Maud etc.

I managed to head south avoiding the weather warning, currently protected by the Perthshire snow shield.

A stunning day climbing Coire Na Ciste via Gully 2. Photos were taken on just a phone which do not do it justice. The fresh snow was thigh deep in places on the Eastern side of the slopes.

I’ve had sublime conditions whilst being away, v lucky.

I was quite surprised myself when I saw the Amber issued. Was never gonna be much of a show for Aberdeenshire. Snowing over Grampian but isn’t anything unusual about that. Aberdeen saw 4” with a yellow warning In December and well 0cm in an Amber for January . #CrapOffice

I think it was as much for the wind aspect combined with the snow, as it is quite breezy. Plenty of reports of problems being caused by drifting in the NE corner of Aberdeenshire. I'd agree with @Scepticalthough in that for the Alford area it's been a non event so far, with not much snow and therefore no real problems with drifting. Still time though. 

Edit: Interestingly where most models a couple of days, ago were showing a warm up again at the weekend the GFS has gradually transitioned to a coldish weekend and beyond. Even the ECM has toned down the mild pulse, just not quite as much as the GFS. That's for NE Scotland anyway.

Kids not impressed looking out the window just now as their hopes of a snow day off school tomorrow are looking doubtful.

Temperature up to 1.2c, very windy and a steady drip coming off the roof with a very thin cover of snow.

Great snow pics again everyone...they are a blessing for us that are snow starved this winter.

I've been keeping an eye on that blob of snow heading south all evening...sadly its being evaporated by the hills and mountains as it moves down...ho-hum nae snaw for us.

Two flashes of lightning in fact, a couple of minutes apart, both fairly closely followed by the thunder. Still mainly missing the snow here and temp has climbed to 1.3C.

Slushy start to the day with heavy sleet and fresh wind but can see snow level just about a mile away at 50m above us. A really foul morning

Snow plow sitting doing nothing at A719 roundabout. Meanwhile the road itself is totally covered in ice and snow. Pretty bad for what we consider a main road.

Snaw has all but disappeared, replaced by a mix of rain and sleet. Temp has shot up now, almost sub tropical at 2.8c.

No snow here unsurprisingly. The snow that I thought was headed this way was gobbled up by the Arrochar Alps by the looks of it.

Didn't snow here in Irvine overnight just lethal ice left from yesterday's wintry mix which froze....

After what started off as heavy snow around 730pm last night giving the cleared road and path another covering, this morning was met by a wet slushy mess at a temp of 2c at 830am.....any patches left were rapidly thawing, but roads were SLIPPY until the A90. This morning so far I've seen 3 flakes of snow up in Altens and the rest has been rain/sleet. Met app showing heavy snow between 5-7pm but, I take that with a pinch of salt lol 

Can the UK high please hurry up and arrive so we can get some sunshine and settled weather now.....at least before another shot at some proper snow in in Feb.

All these weather warnings it would be my fantasy forecast if only they were accurate we got a covering of snow for a day maybe, some wind and hail, not even been that cold. The met office warning might as well be for downpours of unicorns and fairies it would be almost as accurate

(Rain) shower rattling through here now, despite the forecast being for a dry day. Currently 4.3c so markedly less cold than yesterday's 1.8c max. Overnight low was 0.3c yesterday evening before the temperature rose as the wind picked up.
