Heavy snow now, and already a covering. 1st of December and snow in Ayr. Ehhhh

Meto warning of 1-3cm of snow above 200m is a little off... Looks like more than that already settled down to sea level in places and the radar is looking good! 

 

Edit: moderate snow here now with everything white, not bad for the first day of winter!

The direction and intensity suggests Glasgow could be experiencing something white in the morn.

Hi all, I have not posted since last winter I think . I hope everyone is well. 

Just on the way home from work in East Kilbride and it’s snowing quite heavily near Newton Mearns. I wasn’t expecting anything so it is a nice surprise and a good start to winter

I’d say we probs have 3cm? and it’s still snowing think we are just under 100m asl

going to bed now need to stop watching it at some point

Yep, hoping that heaviest bit you have now makes it over here. If you loop the radar a streamer is setting up angled towards us from about the Campbeltown area so it could go on for a while...

The arpege chart has it still snowing @4pm tomorrow. It seems to be moving in then moving up towards the central belt.

It might be late but unexpected snowfalls are the best and had to take the opportunity for a few pictures around the village. 8cms so far but gone off a bit now.

Weird seeing the snow levels driving north yesterday and today  Plenty snow yesterday in the Borders and Lothians. Nowt above that at all to Aviemore then winter scenes in Tomatin. Tomatin looking fab today then nowt at Inverness all the way up to Wick. Still lovely here, sunsets to die for.  Dull start to winter my weeble.

[A Winter's Tale]

A nice surprise snowfall to start winter. Around 3.5-4cm of snow after yesterday’s maximum of -1C. Winter 2023/24 has delivered more in just over 24hrs than some entire winters. Hopefully a sign of things to come.
