Just had a gust here on the Essex coast of 51mph with my hand held Kestrel...skies clearing and feels somewhat windier than an hour ago!

They still sell Kestrel lager? Been a long time since I've had one of those

Good view of the sting jet all over the estuary, north essex - 1400h.

It certainly implies a sting-jet with gust speeds that high. Not sure that NWP systems are fine-grained enough to forecast them, though. More of a nowcasting thing, looking for that scorpions sting in the hook around the centre of the low.

Mine's usually a handheld Stella but on a nice warm sunny day over 20c... Clouded over again, another couple of hours until strongest gusts.

Lovely and sunny at the moment here . Just one issue. Its a tad Windy ?. The cat is going mental because we will not let him out . Bless him .

We're letting ours out (we have 4). High winds are an assault on their senses and they don't like it as it reduces their ability to sense nearby risks, so ours are only going out to empty themselves then legging-it straight back home. All are now sleeping by the fire.

Ok I don't like this now, some real big gusts happening and quite relentless too.

Picking up here with some pretty strong gusts. Still very overcast so I’m guessing the strongest winds are coming once the low moves away?

Some really quite big gusts coming through but fortunately no damage as of yet, trees in the park also seem to be doing impressively well. Some of the Deliveroo cyclists around here have no fear, saw one out and about with their shorts on, absolute nutters.

I wonder if the postman will be out and about? I saw a UPS driver deliver opposite, was in shorts too lol

Our postman is always in shorts and he's in his sixties. I have fibromyalgia and I'm indoors I've got 3 layers on and just lit a fire. Just seeing him makes me feel cold.

Gust of 110mph reported at The Needles, Isle of Wight.  Eunice is certainly packing a punch here now too!
