So, I think we can put this forecast down as a fail. The numbers at the airshow today were extremely, low, I suspect based on the forecast, which in turn meant a schedule shuffle. The beaches were empty, Oh dear.

The Red Arrows flew right overhead at about 16.30, not bad luck wise with us playing in the garden!

Another fine warm day too, just a few brief showers and some hazy sunshine.

The rain seems to fizzle out on approach today.  I can't see the met office warning being needed here to be honest abd I'm usually optimistic .

Maybe though it wil, be a case of "pop up" storms tonight.

It's been grey and   grey and blustery at times today,  I'm feeling very sweaty but maybe that is just my age lol .

Need to wait un till payday but I'd like to get a little weather monitor so I can join in this thread properly.

Hiya, you don't necessarily have to spend money (unless of course you want to), you could use local sites to base your information upon, if they are close to you.

For example, weatherunderground has this local site https://www.wunderground.com/weather/gb/taunton

Looking at the map on WU there's a few in the area

OR

I was going to suggest the Netweather community, but having checked none of the folks (excluding you) have a linked website.

Worth posting in the https://community.netweather.tv/forum/70-weather-stations-and-equipment/ for advice, if seeking assistance on what to spend on what.

Cheers Db

The Met Office did a great job of forecasting the heatwaves, usually many days in advance. But the next day forecasts of the last 3-4 weeks have very variable.

Morning All, the overnight low of 13.2°C at: 06:51has risen to 15.2°C, RH96% and a 2mph light air from the SSW. All the overnight action of thunderstorm and some decent rainfall (apart from 0.4mm) yesterday missed us.

A very tasty convective forecast this morning for our region from Dan:

CONVECTIVEWEATHER.CO.UK

Forecasting thunderstorms and severe convective weather across the British Isles and Ireland for up to the next 5 days.

Looking good for Dorset Mapantz. What could possibly go wrong 😁

iPhone app gives me 100% chance of thunder later… what could possibly go wrong… 🤣

Bright sunny start.

Yep, sunny start here too.

Looks like all the fun and games will start late afternoon. I'm not holding my breath, though there seems a much better chance of diurnal heating being a factor today than there was yesterday (which was a nothing-burger in my area).

Everything!

Success rate for predicted thunderstorms to what has materialised has been 0% this year...... come to think of it...... most of the last several years!

I'll hold my breath, this week does look promising on most days - surely Weston can get an overhead storm?

Well obviously, it was tongue in cheek haha.

If we get through this week with no storms… I really will declare the weather as dead! This setup is normally half decent for here.

Position? Right in the middle of two! A stunning 0.4mm of rain.

This morning I overtook a Red Arrow........at 51mph!

It was on the back of a lorry mind you, being taken back to the base for some remedial work by the look of it!

And ... after posting this the sun came out and is still out!

Now cautiously optimistic that we will get some late afternoon action. It's warmed up here and there is a band of embryonic showers about 50 miles south and heading our way.
