It chucked it down last night here, pots full of water when I got up this morning. But we've been lucky through today that it's been mostly dry, we was in the gap of the showers almost all day.

If only it was winter....Sigh

A classic cheshire Gap streamer 👌 today frequent rain showers blowing in on a cold NW flow.

As others have pointed out in the snow and ice thread there's been an early start this year to our east in Siberia with some decent snow and ice coverage. Also the potential for the far north of China to see some snow on Thursday as seen below in the city of Mohe. About a month earlier than normal. Winters are brutal there. Never been above zero in December and January 🥶 incredible range of extreme temperatures too looking at their records. In the past it's been below -50C in winter and close to 40C in summer. Like the summer we had here this year. 🥵

A cloudy and showery start to the day here with a regular feed of showers from the Irish Sea. A classic case of thinking if only it were at least two or three months further on in the year with this setup as we might of been in business for snow showers.

Agreed, it poured down last night at about 11pm and seems to have carried on raining during the night, judging by the amount of water on the roads and pavements. Friday looks interesting, with a deep area of low pressure bringing heavy rain and strong winds to the region and followed (according to the Beeb) by 'thunderstorms' throughout the region, although I don't know what they base that on.

Morning all. 10.7C, smashing it down with rain and a horrible feel. So far below average. Surely we can squeeze one more week of sunshine out of this year!

Tomorrow will be a classic autumnal day, albeit more akin to late October. Plenty of sunshine, temps below average and a biting NW’erly wind. Looking forward to that one!

A very cold day with relentless showers. Typical Cheshire gap autumn weather although cold for september. It has not yet reached double figures currently 9.8°C. Minimum last night was 8.8°C. Laps rates aren't even that steep yet, T500s drop markedly in the next few days.
8.8 mm rain today, 17.5 mm rain since Sunday night.
Summer seems a long time ago now.

Not so bad in the east of the region.  Sitting out for lunch in shelter and the sun.  Feeling fine in shorts!

Different story when clouds come over and wind gusts.

Stayed dry so far today… low of 3.8c last night… put heating on when we got back from lakes to take chill off… 14.8c max currently 13.7c… chilly in breeze out of sun, pleasant enough in sunshine…

Got a fire stick watching US weather channel on Hurricane Ian…

Dodged the North Westerly showers today, there needs to be slight westerly element in them to lay siege to parts east of Mcr.  Still feeling cool in the shade and wind.  Friday not looking like a day for outdoor activities.

It got very chilly last night under the brief starry skies but with the northerly wind it made for crystal-clear views of Jupiter and the red/yellow hues of Mars & Saturn that were also out, had the clear-gap persisted I would have been tempted to stay out longer to get a few star trail snaps but by 3am the cloud had rolled back in again.

Short-term it looks like Friday could be eventful with what looks like a passing squall-line moving across the region into the evening hours, forecast gusts peaking to 42mph after it passes.

Rain on and off here too.  In and out the back door trying to shave wood off two doors, had new carpet upstairs with thick underlay, had electric cable running out of the cat flap. Dodged showers, got the doors done without blowing anything up.  Chilly in the house, got the heating on for a few mins.  Dark grey skies and a heavy downpour at the moment, black out east over the hills.  Nice rainbow though.

An autumnal Cheshire Gap kind of day with frequent heavy blustery showers. Cool for late September too. Autumn definitely playing by the textbook so far this season. 🍂 ☔️

Yes, frequent showers were barreling through the Cheshire Gap today and certainly cool out in the showers and brisk North Westerly winds. A max temp of 12.7C. The summer heatwaves are a distant memory now. Getting decidedly cooler in the house now as well with little warming in the daytime and cooler nights.

Entering the time of year when you are not sure how best to dress so to speak. I wore my warm winter raincoat today as there was a distinct nip in the air, but un the sunshine it way too warm to wear, but under the showers it was fine.. until November its often a case of should I wear my warm rain coat or lighter one.

4'c here this morning with early fog beginning to lift ahead of what promises to be the better day of the week, i'm still keeping a eye on Friday evening's squall-line passage as windyty forecasts intensification as it moves Eastwards over much of England and out into the N.Sea during the later hours.

Lovely autumnal, clear & crisp morning here

5ºC, glorious sunshine and looks like it's set to be clear for most of the day 👌🏼
