Has been raining moderately for about 30mins, but it's now very dark, and the wind has picked up.

Thunder has stopped, for now, but I'd be very surprised if there isn't more to the south.

Amazing sky incoming - camera does not do it justice by an my means.

Visually it should be kicking out a tonne more thunder and lightning than it is - damn saturated atmospheric profiles

Lightning over Southampton from last night. I regret my lens choice.

Me as well!

Though I did have some short periods of thunder and lightning through the summer and a short-lived distant storm to the North of here way back in the first few day's of January very early in the morning when it was just getting daylight.

It's appalling to think though that in over these last three day's of storm potential we have not had anything. We haven't even had heat lightning which is faint flashes you see at night from storms many miles away.

Wind direction seems to be more in favour for us today. Hopefully the heavy showers in the south ATM will develop as they travel up

We have actually been having some heavy showers on and off here since the early hours and in fact I actually got woken up at least twice last night from the rainfall but there still hasn't been any thunder from these heavy showers yet.

But like you say I can see the change in wind direction being a good benefit to us for later as any storms that form in the South won't just move in a Northeasterly direction like they have done since Sunday.

Absolutely POURING here in Crayford. It was absolutely BLACK as I left Welling at midday and have now gone to Crayford for work. It followed me here! Looking at it coming it honestly looked very stormy but there seems to be no trigger at the moment (sorry for no pics, hard to take when on the move for work). It's still lovely listening to it pound down though and the radar is showing some intense rain behind it as well. Maybe we will get a storm tonight as they drift up from the channel. I see there is a tornado warning out as well from Nick's forecast! 😱🌪️

Thunder and lightning eased alas, but visually it was gorgeous, complete with whale’s mouth

Got lightningmaps and the netweather radar open in the background as I work! If I hear any clicks I'll switch to lightningmaps to see if its headed this way! Still absolutely pouring. 😀😄😅☔🌧️ My second best weather compared to storms!

My god it’s like a Florida-Esque day today. Some magnificent cloudscapes and CB’s littering the skies! My favourite type of weather. Perfect.

Unbelievable... cells literally all around me and they still avoid me. One has exploded to life just north around Bristol. 😅

Reading just lit up like a christmas tree on radar. Looks like storms all around, hit and miss.

Hoping as the showers die this evening (and maybe the skies clear) I’ll get some good views of Channel storms firing off

Had an intense downpour just north of Basingstoke, lasted about 10 minutes. However my Netatmo rain gauge only registered 0.2mm which must be off by a large factor.

Just checked the rain gauge and the collector was half full with water! Managed to get the collected water to drain through and then gave the unit a good clean.

Skies are starting to look just as ominous as the radar in Brum

Just in case

Normally prefer that sort of show at night but daytime is also welcome… 🤣
